What if Itachi became Hokage?

What if Itachi and Shisui successfully calmed the tensions between the leaf and the Uchiha(thus avoiding the Uchiha massacare)? How different would things be? Could Itachi have become a Hokage, considering Hiruzen Sarutobi (the 3rd Hokage) said that he already had the mindset of a Hokage at the age of 7 and also his apparent incredible skills and power as a shinobi?

Honestly I believe that over the course of time following the scenario I suggested Itachi could have become the Fifth Hokage(barring the involvement of Jiraya or Tsunade as other possible canidates) and inturn give the Uchiha a better image among the leaf. This also would have made Sasuke a far easier person to be around(hopefully not as overly "pleasant" as the Sasuke in the "Road to Ninja" movie) and defiantly a better friend to team 7(being that Itachi would probably encourage him to make friends). However it could be said that this series of events could drastically affect(for better or worse) Sasuke's drive to become stronger and intern could possibly make him a poor rival for Naruto.

Well that's my take on it anyway, maybe i'm alittle too optimistic and think that Itachi was delt a truely shitty hand in life considering all he had going for him. Regardless tell me what you guys think?

I'm not sure he would have still ended up evil for a while or otherwise, with Itachi as a positive role model anyway. Also if he viewed Itachi as a goal as well as a role model I agree that he could have become incredibly strong.

I feel the Indra in him will rear it's head one way or another, he'll probably get tired of being compared to the Hokage (Itachi) or something, though his path to power would be a lot more difficult as Orochimaru would most likely settle for a weaker Uchiha with the Sharingan and there goes his free powerup (so he'll probably end up with MS), Naruto would also most likely end at BSM and they'd find a way to cause problems for the leaf, worthy of note is the fact that Itachi would end-up soloing both of them.

Because his MS shorten his life span even more. which is exactly the point. orochi, obito nor danzo would've had the balls to even touch kohona if itachi was there 24/7, therefore no need to waste using MS and therefore keeping 3rd hokage possibly alive.
