I simply find it "disgusting" and i think it shouldn't be like that. don't get me wrong. I am not searching for gay people and beating them up or yell at them. If i see one, i simply walk by. Ofcourse i would think its better if they didn't dress like that But if it is my son who dresses like that i wouldn't accept it. I would definitly do something about this

Like I said, if you can't provide "Why's" and "How's" then your beliefs are weak and worth nothing. You find it disgusting, why?

You think it shouldn't be like that, why?

It's better if they didn't dress like that, why?

If you cannot provide the "Why's," then your beliefs on the matter are worthless.

If no "Why's" exist, then you are ostracizing your son for no legitimate reason, just on prejudice, which makes you a terrible father.

Wait what? How is he an idiot for disliking his son's taste of fashion? You are being way to extreme right now, almost like the very thing you're criticizing others about...

I've explained that in posts that have come after. I find it idiotic because there aren't inherent reasons to be against that way of clothing. Even when I pointed that out, his answer as to why he's against it is essentially "Just because I am." No 2+2 behind it, no reasoning, no critical thinking to a debate that demands it, to a discussion that actually affect lives. In other words, idiocy.

If this was a light hearted matter, then yes, I'd be taking it too far. But in a discussion about something that have actually led to lives being ruined or taken, then it's dead serious to look at it critically.

This is a fallacy known as slippery slope. While the acceptance of homosexuality may cause new scrutiny into things that are considered wrong and taboo, it's not like people will go "Hey, we accept gays, let's just accept beastiality and pedophilia." Evaluation of these things will show that they are still harmful, and that's why they won't be accepted.

You realize how stupid a reason that is, right?
Bullying them, hurting/killing them, etc because they make you cringe is stupid yeah, but having a son that doesn't make you cringe isn't that big of something to ask for.

Geez, if my son dressed up as Marilyn Manson, I'd probably be considered less of a bigot to many for disapproving of that. Why must this be different?

I'd kill him.

He'd be my daughter

Beat his ****ing ass. Not like.. His ass.. But.. Kick
Him around the house and stuff and shoot his throat with a 44.magnum

I would buy him a nice dress and a thong for his birthday, maybe a wig too :hs:

Kick him out of the house.

"Damn it, woman, I knew I should've put on a condom."

More seriously, I'd probably ''try'' to roll with it, I guess.

You must be registered for see images

^^^

Probably kill me inside...but I'd roll with it.

I thought that was just the style nowadays. I see a lot of dudes walking around with questionable cut or patterned shirts and jeans that are rolled up at the bottom, or colored. Course I live in Seattle. Masculinity is fairly hard to come by here

Ostracizing your child because of their dress because "it makes you cringe" is terrible parenting.

Geez, if my son dressed up as Marilyn Manson, I'd probably be considered less of a bigot to many for disapproving of that. Why must this be different?
Disapprove, sure. Even though I disagree with disapproving of it, there's no stopping that. But when you let it get to the point that you'd treat your child with prejudice because of it, then you've failed as a parent.

How is there a why to finding something disgusting? You just do or don't.

Pedophilia is disgusting because it takes advantage of children before they are mentally and physically capable of adequately partaking in ***.

Murder is disgusting because it is taking the life of another person, the thing most precious to them.

Eating shit is disgust because of the fowl taste, smell, and toxic effects it can have on the body.

Necrophilia is disgusting for similar reasons to eating shit.

Beastiality is disgusting due to the harm that can be imposed on both the animal and the human.

The holocaust was disgusting because it was the systematic genocide of an entire race of innocent people.

Slavery was disgusting because it was the forced bondage, and forced manual labor and induced cruel treatment and living conditions on hundreds of thousands of people for 300 years.

Rape is disgusting due to the traumatizing psychological effects it has on the victims, as well being an act that violates safety and free will by nature.

Need I go on?

Your post are worthless and hold no value. Don't fight the inevitable.

^^^Exactly what I'm talking about. When your beliefs are challenged, their true merit is shown. Yours have none and is the product of weak thinking.

I never said I would ostracize my child...

Okay, I get your point on disgusting, you sort of used the word in place of 'wrong' though but in this case it just looks really bad to me.

If i would go deeper into explaining the "why" you wouldn't agree or understand anyways because you believe something else. Its irrelevant not weak thinking.

I never said you would either. I'm challenging the belief that this(dressing this way) is an act that justifies ostracism, which was expressed numerous times throughout this thread.

If i would go deeper into explaining the "why" you wouldn't agree or understand anyways because you believe something else. Its irrelevant not weak thinking.

Do go into why, I'd love to see your justification. I'm approaching this with an open mind; if I see a reason that is irrefutable or close to it, I'll admit so.

It's ironic you wear the image of a character defined by righteousness, acceptance, love, peace, and understanding, and fail to exhibit any of these traits in the matter at hand, which warrants these traits to be exhibited.

Question: If your child dressed up as something from a horror movie on a daily basis, would you even be slightly disappointed?

So in your opinion reasoning can explain emotions? If so then if someone forces you to wear something that you really don;t like, you would give them a reason and that reason may be labeled "dumb"(just like how you said that cringing is a stupid reason for disliking something) then wouldn't reasons be useless if they aren't logically and objectively acceptable? cause that is the very meaning of subjectivity, you can argue against it just like you're doing right now but it still wouldn't make sense. You currently arguing about something humans had not reached yet, you can't make procedures to form a logical solution and have as a rule when it comes to emotions, otherwise and by your logic one would have to logically explain why homos feel that way about people of the same ***, and naturally an answer like "they are born that way" would be "not good enough " in eyes of other observers since it isn't as absolute as "2+2=4".
