If you think it's a "social construct" then that means that there isn't any particular reason that your son dresses that way other than he likes to.

You're basically trying to tell people who disagree with homosexuality that they are secretly gay. That's pretty condescending for you to be telling me what my sexual attractions are.

So people who dislike homosexuality themselves are gay, and people who show homosexual tendencies are not?

Not exactly. I'm talking about those who oppose and hate them. I disagree with many things but I don't hate it. Many people hate homosexuality and bully those that are gay. These are the ones to which the studies refer.

Apparently, nowadays coming off as a transgender or gay is the bravest shit since Moses simply because it is socially/morally usually unacceptable.

Guess if I go out downtown naked and masturbate infront Starbucks then I'm the bravest of all.

OT: Not gonna support him, nor am I gonna lie to him and say it's cool by me, though if his conviction is strong enough to do that then my opinion will probably not affect him either and so I'd try to get used to it.

So i can walk in public butt a** naked and when they ask why I say "This is who i am, I feel comfortable this way, accept me for me" How do you think that's going to go? lol..ok...

1. That's a crime

At that age, he's part of a society that is constantly scrutinizing and ostracizing people on superfluous things like the clothes they wear. Look at the idiots here who have a problem with the way he's dressing, including yourself.

He's brave because he's willing to break conformity, which will probably earn him a lot of ostracism from immature people such as yourself. So yeah, he's a lot braver than you because he's willing to be progressive in a field that is put down far too often.

Seriously, it's just clothing. It won't make him a shitty person, it won't make him any less capable of being educated, it's not hurting him, it's not hurting others, it won't stop him from being able to provide for himself as an adult.

Gender role conformity is not a necessity.
Didn't say that.
Didn't say that either
Andddd didn't say that.
If you want your son to be gay, fine. If you accept it that is totally okay.
But i wouldn't. And before coming to that question. No i am not in any kind of religion.

And i am sure he is braver then me for dressing like that. Lets drink on his victory

That's not at all what he said. Studies have shown there is a correlation between exhibiting homophobia and having repressed homosexual feelings. It doesn't say that all homophobes are repressed homosexuals, as correlation doesn't equal causation. It merely suggests that often, people are homophobic because they can't bring themselves to deal with their own sexual desires, rather than them actually having a legitimate reason and justification for why homosexuality is bad

Do you want the next generation males to think they were made to make house tea? Males went from killing boar's to putting on lipstick..

Males used to put on lipstick during the Renaissance.

Regardless, as long as he's happy, I don't care what he does so long as he's not harming others.

Bullies generally bully because they find it funny or feel powerful for it, it's rarely because of some dark secret. This thread isn't about homosexuality though. It's about men dressing as women.

A man dressing like a woman, simply just looks horrible unless the man looks like a woman fully. I don't see how that makes people bigots for cringing at the sight of it. Womens' clothes are designed for their bodies and only look good on them. A male trying to make their body look female while still having a masculine face to go with it just looks weird.

I never said that you said that. The point of me listing those things are to show that there are practically no actual inherent negative aspects to the way he is dressing. I listed some of the negative aspects that actually would matter the most, and asserted that they didn't apply to demonstrate that there's nothing actually wrong with the way he's dressing.

If you are against something, and can't actually offer a legitimate reason as to why it deserves to have people going against it, then your beliefs are weak. If someone asks "Why" or "How" to your reasoning, and you can't offer a response, then your reasoning is weak.

So? Society once looked down upon black people having the same jobs as whites and women having the same rights as men.

Yes, of course it would fall under bravery, in fact doing all socially unaccepted thing fall under that, otherwise it would be hypocritical. Though I can't seems to find where I denied that in order for you to quote me with the definitions.

I dont these hate these people by any means. im a caring person. All im saying is, how far will we go? How much will we accept over time? Okay say it starts off with accepting homosexuality. Whats next? Bestiality? Sure you may say it's different now but im pretty sure homosexuality wasnt even remotely considered acceptable centuries ago. Gradually over time humans going to start accepting things in society they never imagined that they woud accept. I cant be the only 1 that see's it that way.

So the reason can't be because it makes people cringe?

Actually many scientific studies have proven that people who show anti-homosexual tendencies, have repressed sexual attraction for the same ***. In turn they take it out on those who are open about it, eventually becoming the very thing they fear themselves simply because they were cowards.

As with all studies, this one had several limitations. As the authors pointed out, all participants were college students, so it may be helpful in future research to test these effects in younger adolescents still living at home and in older adults who have had more time to establish lives independent of their parents and to look at attitudes as they change over time. Additionally, given the correlational nature of many of the present findings, causal and developmental inferences cannot be reliably made. Finally, it is important to point out that implicit measures are not a perfect window into an individual’s psyche or “true” sexual orientation

This is a fallacy known as slippery slope. While the acceptance of homosexuality may cause new scrutiny into things that are considered wrong and taboo, it's not like people will go "Hey, we accept gays, let's just accept beastiality and pedophilia." Evaluation of these things will show that they are still harmful, and that's why they won't be accepted.

So the reason can't be because it makes people cringe?

You realize how stupid a reason that is, right?

I simply find it "disgusting" and i think it shouldn't be like that. don't get me wrong. I am not searching for gay people and beating them up or yell at them. If i see one, i simply walk by. Ofcourse i would think its better if they didn't dress like that But if it is my son who dresses like that i wouldn't accept it. I would definitly do something about this

Not every case of bullying is the same. A majority of people here would consider their son gay, if he dressed like this. If you're offended by something it usually means that there is a reason, there is never a case where a Billy does it for fun, a joker and a bully have two different motivations. The kind of people who would typically attack someone like him would be the latter.

That's bad ? You act like people lose rationality at what's acceptable and not.
There's a bold line between homosexuality and bestiality.

Wait what? How is he an idiot for disliking his son's taste of fashion? You are being way to extreme right now, almost like the very thing you're criticizing others about...
