I actually felt that the one Hagoromo referred to was Indra; Indra was the one who inherited power, while Ashura was entrusted with ideals.

I understand but you seem to fail catching the logic of the story-line, Indra and Ashura sons of Hagoromo, Naurto and Sasuke incarnations of the sons. Naruto failed often in the battlefield and was ass-saved by Kakashi, Chouji, Asuma, Neji, Kabuto I mean, every character in the 1st part. As Naruto doesn´t seem to quit he´s got a sort of a star to attract others onto helping him = Naruto

Plus the translation. Translating Japanese into English is already a semantics challenge cause of the cultural and actual geographical distances add that Naruto is a manga, panel drawings got a sort of slang -cause of its briefness-by themselves so the translation might be cutting details to describing an entire life.

We can´t either compare the first pair of bothers as there were no accounts of their battles.

I do understand Indra and Ashura carry with Hagoromo´s powers

Most probably in either of the incarnations Hagoromo experimented with the hosts of his sons´ souls by granting or skipping handing in powerups

That word is ambiguous, power doesn't necessarily have to mean abilities. He couldn't have given Ashura any new abilities or KKG because he stated the brothers were equal and Indra never had a Rinnegan. By 'power' I think Hagoromo meant the ability to use Ninshuu and influence his followers, so basically power over the people.

Ashura had Rikudou Senjutsu which leads me to believe that Hagoromo only entrusted Ashura with his Six Paths Power.

I don't think Hago gave him him Rikudou Senjutsu because Indra never had a Rinnegan and he stated the brothers were equal when Ashura's power bloomed. It makes more sense that Rikudou Senjutsu was Ashura's natural power while Indra had Mangekyo powered by the Sage's chakra.

So Ashura's Chakra enabled him to awaken a Six Paths Power whereas Indra's Chakra didn't despite the fact that you stated that both of their Chakras are equal?

I'll let you figure that one out for yourself. :sdo:

i think that particular backstory was misread by some ppl including myself, because the DB says it a bit better than the manga that Ninshuu was something both he and Indra learned from Hagoromo, but since Indra was smart enough to be aware of his talents earlier on, he tapped into his potential a lot quicker. Ashura, on the other hand, wasn't able to discover and tap into his potential until he started co-oping with other ppl.

In short, Hagoromo's lamentation was about entrusting 1 son over the other one with the Ninshuu movement, not giving Ashura a powerup and leaving Indra hanging.

Yes, having Rikudou Senjutsu does not equate to having the JuubiJin's full power, Obito had Rinnegan and the Juubi but was still defeated by Naruto and Sasuke who only had a fraction of Indra and Ashura's power.

Indra had Hagoromo's Yin chakra while Ashura had Hagoromo's Yang chakra, and it's already been proven children from Junchuuriki inherit certain traits from the bijuu, Naruto inherited Kurama's healing abilities while Hamura had TSB despite not being a JuubiJin.

The Shringan itself comes from the Juubi and it's power is on a whole other level under the influence of Sage chakra as proven by Obito and Sasuke in the Kaguya arc.

As the child of a JuubiJin Ashura would've been able to use chakra cloak like Naruto and Mokuton like Hashirama while Indra would most likely have the same Susano'o and MS feats as Rinnegan Sasuke along with maybe Yata and Totsuka since they're made of Yin energy and designed for Susano'o usage. And Sasuke already proved having Rinnegan isn't required to match RSM avatar, all he relied on was Indra's Arrow and Susano'o in VoTE 2
