How do you feel about the current video game era?

I play a lot of last gen and older games on Steam nowadays because everything new is so expensive and the many series that I grew up with are becoming boring and overly milked.

Most of the games suck, because the whole thing grew too big. Everything is about money and fast releases now, while DLC/Season Pass are ruining nearly every game. Much more than before. There are only very few jewels each year that are actually worth the money and don't get ruined by the greedy DLC-crap of the publishers/developers.

What this whole industry needs.. is love. They need to love what they do. They have to put their love into the games, care about them, which leads to lovely details and such.

The worst are EA and Ubisoft to me. I used to play "Assassin's Creed" a lot! But since "Assassin's Creed 3", the series became utter nonsense and I hate what this once so great series has become because of greed. I only call it "Assassin's Greed". Far Cry, Watch Dogs and now "The Division" are so lame.

The last three "AAA"-games that I really loved, were:
- The Last of Us
- GTA V
- Fallout 4

Most of the time, I look for games from smaller developers. Not necessarily indie-games.
- Life is Strange
- Firewatch
- The Escapists
- Subnautica

Great games ^-^

The game that really rustled me last year was CoD black ops 3, the game had literally no story. The only games that seem to be worth it now are the rpg (middle earth games)like Dragon age inquisition and The Witcher.
The best game I played last year was Ori and the blind forest, the story and art were fantastic.

Multiplayer online competitive gaming took over, story-line and original content is barely visible anymore.

This one of the reasons why I haven;t spent any money on games since last year...

I agree with this. I also seem to have gamer's impotence - can't play anything but Dota2 recently, even if I wait for a game to come out, I pre-order it, then install, play like 15 mins and then drop it. :(
I only play warcraft 3 for the last year and a half sometimes I go to town to play pro evolution soccer against my friends and thats it.

There were some good 3rd person shooter/adventure games in 2015, like Metal Gear Solid V, & Tomb Raider. Most 1st person shooters now are really just the same thing over and over, COD Black Ops 3 was awful imo, so tired of futuristic 1st person shooters I mean we've had halo for forever thats enough for me. We need more games like The Last of Us, Uncharted, Tomb Raider etc. The best games to me now days are 3rd person, most of the time the gameplay & graphics are done very well.

How can you say that with a straight face? No SOULS?!

Otherwise, this is one of the best times for computer games. I am loving the hell out of it and this comes from a guy that was playing Golden Axe on some machine in a vending-machine stall for children, when everything seems to be so bright my eyes are burning even today. Or Duke Nukem 2, Death rally, Destruction Derby. Just because you think the grass was greener when you were younger, hey, pal, mark my words: The times, they are a-changing. Before, you needed four guys for a game. Now you need a crowd.

What you loved then would be considered sub-par now, probably. You don´t like mainstream games? Great, there are tons of indie games! These are the ones that I loved playing in the last time (sadly, my computer sucks, as I study abroad):

- Witcher 3
- Sunless Sea
- FTL: Faster Than Light
- Pillars of Eternity
- Element4l
- Legend of Grimrock 2
- Transistor

Damn, many, many more. Not counting Dota and Counter Strike at all, which I play as well. If there is something I dislike, it´s micro-transactions, but I don´t play on my phone that much, so whatever.

Furthermore, as you can connect account through Steam, I have over 200 games with my friend. Darn. As I said - loving this.
