Why do people still believe in the bible?

Why do people still believe the bible if things like Noah's Ark and the great flood, along with Adam and Eve have been scientifically proven to not have existed?

You can hate it all you want but that's just facts.

You just cherrypick the "good" parts and say that's religion and leave out all the horrible and untrue parts and say "oh that's not religion".

Either people think their holy book is true or they don't. If there is a middle ground where people define their religion by their own standars and preferences then it's fair to assume that those people think that parts of their holy book aren't true. This exposes them to their own hypocrisy where they want people to follow the word of god as the ultimate truth, but at the same time they don't believe in other parts of these "truths". It's just silly really, the whole cherrypicking. I guess in 200 years there's only few sentences left that they'll accept as the word of god lol.

First of all, it's important to note that not all people interpret the Biblibical texts in the same manner.

There are different denominations and even within one denomination there are various different ideas. That said, your question depends on what do you reffer to. Is it just the Flood account and Adam and Eve, the Genesis as a whole or the Bible in its entirety?

Second, to call Bible a mythological/fictional book is a mistake. It's nature simply doesn't allow you to label it as such, well atleast not in a justified manner.

It's not about 100% true or 100% false when you go to analyze a book that embraces texts from 4000+ years ago, also written in very different ages one another.
And apart for the times, everyone who wrote the Bible couldn't don't put a bit of his personality in his works, putting more emphasis on the parts he found more interesting and skipping a bit certain other parts. Jesus himself explained several passages of the Bible, contextualized others, disproved others.
It's also full of metaphors, allegories and linguistic differences and interpretation difficulties.
That's what exegesis and hermeneutics are for.

To me the whole thing falls apart if there's some major parts/passages that are proven false and accepted as false by the believers. The bible is a good example of this, with it's burning bushes, floods, arks, genesis stories etc.

Most part of the things you mentioned are perfectly translatable with the term "metaphor" and they're not major passages at all.

As a raised Catholic I've always interpreted Adam and Eve as a metaphor.. But it's not the main thing in my opinion
