Well if we were to close compare the two characters before Naruto gained Rikudo powers Menma seemed way stronger than Naruto to be actually defeated in the battle...the guy was literally superior in every aspect be it Taijutsu, Ninjutsu and even had modifications for his Kyubi chakra use........was it solely coz of plot that Menma lost to Naruto or Naruto is actually stronger...?

sort of Naruto turned bad in the movie RTN and a more serious version of Naruto in the fillers.....the one i am comparing is the one in the movie...he actually trashed SM naruto with ease, almost took Akatsuki head on....

Naruto didn't take that much damage, all the damage naruto took was while he was in base. In SM he was not hurt at all. If naruto went KCM the battle would have ended
