What is your basis for inconsistent portrayal? The FRS is a incomparably more powerful attack than a normal rasengan, nagato's barrier has never been hit by an attack more powerful than FRS, and a much weaker attack (rasengan) doesn't move the barrier at all. We've seen the barrier not move when other attacks hit it, the only one that moves it is the far more powerful one.

It wasn't a SM rasengan, it was a SM FRS, an attack that's far stronger than a SM chou oodama rasengan let alone a normal rasengan. KCM rasengan doesn't hold a candle to that, in fact feats suggests it might actually be weaker than the KCM version.

This is true.

The absorption of a Rasengan looks different when absorbed by Pein vs Jiraiya, when absorbed by Pein vs Naruto, and when absorbed vs Naruto by Nagato. The barrier more than likely just looks different when absorbing jutsu based on its properties. A normal sized Rasengan doesn't cause any distortion, while a giant Rasengan causes the barrier to distort "upwards" to pull it in, and the barrier distorts horizontally to pull in the horizontally aligned wind blades.

But this could be a possibility, with Manga scans to back it up.

Bear in mind on the following page, it's not being bent back, but it's stretching forward. The "bent back" looking effect, like I said before, was more than likely the barrier distorting to accommodate the shape of the FRS.

Can you post a different link of the same image, or at least explain what it shows? I'm using my school wifi and it doesn't allow me to see the image. It must be on a website that isn't allowed. This sound like it makes sense though, bending in shape to accommodate the attacks size/shape.

KAguya doesn't have Pretapath. She can absorb chakra but its not pretapath.

An explosion from the TBB is just the chakra being released all at once.
which in turn causes a shockwave like any other explosion. The shockwave is caused by the explosion's interaction with air particles which are not chakra.

The barrier has never been shown to fail, nor has any weaknesses been shown for the barrier. Any limitations or weaknesses given to it, aside from only being able to absorb ninjutsu, is just assumption. Also, a person not using something doesn't mean it wouldn't work. Prime example is Kakashi not simply Kamui sniping Kakuzu's head while he was hidden instead of using Raikiri.
You're using a double standard here. First, you claim that absence of evidence IS evidence of absence when you say "because it hasn't been shown to fail, then saying it won't", while on the otherhand you're saying that "just because a person didn't use this jutsu doesn't mean it wouldn't work", which is you claiming that absence of evidence ISN'T evidence of absence.

The strongest thing nagato's preta path has gone up against is FRS, and when it did, it got bent in. Preta path is never used in situations where it would have easily dealt with the threat if it had the abilities you are attributing to it, so it most likely does have limitations and does not work the way you're trying to claim it does.

Plus, the kakashi example isn't a prime example because Kamui has negative affects on him and it wasn't instant like it is now. Preta path doesn't have any negative affects on the user there's no reason for them not to use it in those dire situations.

I don't see how the absorption looks different, there's a circle around preta path when he absorbs jiraiya's rasengan, the rasengan doesn't even change the shape of the circle and the chakra just gets pulled in. Even if the barrier did function by your logic, it would have distorted outward towards the rasenshuriken in an attempt to absorb the blades and the ball, not fall back in, that doesn't make any sense.

The jutsu probably doesn't, but how much can be absorbed depends on the overall capacity of the user.

The barrier isn't being stretched forward, it's the rasenshuriken's chakra that's being pulled in, just like the chakra of naruto's rasengan and arms are being pulled in here:

The only time the barrier's shape ever is manipulated is when it first got hit by the FRS, after it had destabalized the jutsu by absorbing enough of its chakra, it absorbs the jutsu like it did the rasengan.

Preta absorbs all chakra, unless the user has NE, and the users reserves or attack is greater than that of the person absorbing it,the absorber will be just fine

The user can absorb NE/senjutsu But only if they can control/balance it out.

Yea that's what I mean, there is no limit to normal chakra absirbtion, but in the case of NE, one has to be able to balance/control it

Yea so it just depends on the user using Preta path.
