Isn't it odd that Kabuto and Orochimaru now have no current connection?

Considering how Orochimaru and Kabuto both abandoned root together, set-up hidden sound, performed countless experiments etc. Is it not a little how all of a sudden, the war is over Orochimaru is doing the same old shit and Kabuto is working at the Konoha orphanage. The two have gone their complete separate ways.

It just strikes me as a little odd that Orochimaru's greatest ally (and successor) now has no relationship with him whatsoever. Instead, the members of taka are back sucking Oro's snake ass after abandoning him to serve Sasuke.

On the subject of taka, why would they go back to Orochimaru? Hardly seems logical.

People do drift, and Sasuke doesn't need Taka any more.

He is the joint strongest shinobi alive.

When Kabuto freed himself from Itachi's illusion he realized how lost he was, who he really was and what others did to him (including Orochimaru). He sought his own identity & the man he was (hence the orphanage as is its connection to his childhood when he was still himself as an orphan) as well as redemption (hence, running an orphanage).

Kabuto faced his demons in izanami, he must have wanted to make sure that no orphans suffer a fate like him or something.
As for taka, they were too jaded for the world to fit back in i guess and when sasuke went on his redeeming himself journey must have gotten back to only familiar territory i.e. oruchimaru.

This. I figured Itachi No Jutsu was too strong for Kabuto to break

Why is it odd? If anything, it would be odd if Kabuto still had a connection to Orochimaru.

Izanami freed him; he is no longer influenced by Orochimaru.

Jugo, Suigetsu, and Karin just need a place to stay, yo. They used to work for the guy. Well, be imprisoned/work. Now, they just work for him. I doubt they would be accepted like Sasuke because Naruto is in love with Sasuke, not any of them. Orochimaru is pretty powerful too. They work for him and he protects them. He is just their landlord.
