Took me awhile to understand this but yes Hyuga use hand seals... beginner Hyuga that is as shown in the manga/anime after awhile the Hyuga don't require hand seals to activate their byakugan. Another example of this would be Himawari who activated her byakugan instantly, and can't forget about Neji who activated it without hand seals versus Kidomaru. Also them saying byakugan and naming jutsu is mostly just for so as you see it is usually done without their mouths moving meaning they are saying it mentally for viewers sake. Don't know why you quoted me as my response has nothing to do with yours.

The war is irrelevant? It's the one of the few times where there is an actual Uchiha clan(more than a few members). Even after the war, the Uchiha became the most powerful clan in konoha(with the senjus dying out).

Again. Majority of the Uchiha "did not" unlock sharingan. But the Uchiha were still regarded to be more powerful than the hyuuga(who all have the fodder byakugan). So logic dictates that the average Uchiha(no sharingan) >>> the average hyuuga.

According to the hearings about the war time of shinobi, obito clearly states that the two strongest clans were the uchiha and senju. They influenced the waves of war and were also RIVALS. We do clearly know that the hyuga clan has been there for years even when both the senju and uchiha clans weren't extinct. Why does the anime or manga not state the hyugas as being a match for any of these clans? Remember madara single handedly went into war and massacred a unit consisting of thousands of people from DIFFERENT villages (most probably including a few hyugas) just to test his power. Please, just cause the uchiha clan was wiped out by two people doesnt mean they are weak. Itachi and obito were extremely gifted characters and both had mangekyo sharingans...levels higher than a normal sharingan. For those who used the war manga as a proof to state that the hyuga are the strongest are right in a sense. Why? This is because the two original strongest clans in shinobi history, uchiha and senju, were EXTINCT at that period in time. Hence, hizashi could boast of the hyuga as being the strongest. And please, just cos rock lee beat sasuke and neji beating lee doesnt not account for the uchiha being less than the hyuga:

1. this thread is to compare to clans strengths not the strengths of two people
2. Lee has had lots of experience in battle than sasuke as he was a class higher
3. Lee never yoused the gates for neji as his ninja rule states that he uses it when hes in a real pinch. Neji is his comrade so he never used it on neji. I mean cmon, neji never knew about the gates until the chunin examsand was extremely shocked by its power
4. Even if you compare neji, sasuke and lee now, who do you think will win

without any abnormal way to upgrade in power (other than just training + experience), Hyuga is much better than Uchiha.
