Yet as soon as he was revived, he burst straight out of the seal and quickly overwhelmed them plus EMS Sasuke. Even Hashirama said he'd restored his former powers.

So that suggests that either:

a) There's still a lot of power missing in Edo state.
b) Their power and abilities are unable to be properly used in Edo state.

It's fact that edo tenseis are much weaker in their dead state. But the immortality and unlimited chakra and stamina outweighs the disadvantages. Alive Madara is much stronger than sasuke and naruto.

He was able to defeat naruto with taijutsu in the blink of an eye. The same naruto would was able to dodge the 3rd raikages spear and perform other insane feats. Also he easily toyed aroudn with sasuke.
