Those pages don't show anything about him being considered a hero of the village and even still Kakashi has said he was embarrassed to be related to him as a child because his father betrayed the shinobi rule and at first Kakashi thought poorly of his father for that, it wasn't until later he adopted the "those who betray their friends are worse then scum" mentality and by that point he had been wearing his mask and probably just gotten used to it.

You could say because he was insecure ever since his father's demise, embarassed even, hence he wanted to hide his face.
But if you ask me, I would say it was Kishi just trying to show off some real classic-style ninja in the early chapters to give the vibe needed, which is why the two most featured adult shinobi of the first arc wore masks (Kakashi and Zabuza). Haku also wore a mask.

well connect the timeline this is when Kakashi is trying to get into the academy and i think his father committed suicide much later wasn't it so....i am not sure

He was embarrassed with his father for abandoning a mission for the safety of his team because at that point Kakashi was a by the book idealist and in his mind you completed the mission first. It wasn't until Obito he realized his father was right and embraced the idea of friends first.
