Was Obito Kage level when he fought Minato?

At the time he fought Minato, he was certainly upper kage level. Minato himself was easily considered an upper to high kage and Obito proved he was a proper match for him without doubt.

To be honest, mid Kage level is not all that impressive. We all know that the Leaf is the strongest village but their best candidates for Hokage, aside from Jiraiya, were Tsunade and Kakashi. That alone should tell you many kage in the lower to mid level are not all that impressive. Not to mention, weaker villages like the Sand and Mist have virtually no kage candidates other than their standing Kage, this also proves the weakness of an average kage.

Obito easily wipes the floor with most of these kage and kage-candidates, making him upper to high kage without doubt, even at that young age. There are other pieces of evidence like how easily he dealt with seasoned anbu members, which automatically puts you in the kage conversation, but his abilities alone are enough to prove it.

kakashi was a low to average kage, its mostly his intellect that gave him more potential and promise than his actual abilities deserved. Without MS, Kakashi is weaker than someone on Darui's level, but his intellect boosts him.

I wish Kishi would've showcased Kakashi as a strong ninja even without his Sharingan. Like it would've been cool if he had a plethora of awesome techniques he wasn't able to use due to the strain put on his eye from the Sharingan which constantly dipped into his chakra since it was always open, something that would put him on Jiraiyas level. Thats what I was hoping for, but naw, Kishi played my mans like a fiddle smh

OP: Obito was kage level, but let's not overrate him. People are saying he would've been able to take down the gokage, I doubt it.

Obito was kage level by virtue of being half composed of Hashi cells/white zetsu and having a broken MS justu that made him invulnerable to harm. Take away Kamui and Obito would've been curbed by Minato.

But he could take out new kage bar Gaara I feel (only cuz if he tried to warp Gaara Gaara can detach from sand shield and go for kill or control of his body)

Onooki most likely will do to lack of counter for intagbility but I'd rather fight young obito then an onooki at that point

Didn't Kakashi curb Obito when he didn't use Kamui to avoid Kakashi's blows? And we know Kakashi < Minato. 14 year old Obito was amped by Hashi cells and an OP MS jutsu that had no drawbacks.

He's way faster than kirin as well, it takes 1/0000 of a second when space-time teleportation users can dodge attacks at an instant without trace. He needed itachi to not ruin his plans because he knew he was a spy, just look at how edo itachi saved the whole ninja world. On top of that, his kamui is for speed purpose and to dodge all attacks. If he wants to capture somebody he will warp them into another dimension to keep them as hostage. If he wants to kill the kages then he'd genjutsu them, wood release, and many other jutsus he learned form Madara to kill them.
