How long could you survive as the last person on Earth?​

You wake up one day to the realization that you're the last man/woman on Earth. How do you survive?

What you'll need:

Water
* You'll need water for drinking, cooking, bathing
* Most bottled waters are good for 2-4 years after they are bottled. Could you find clean water if you had to?

Food
* Refrigerated/frozen foods would go bad within 7 days or less
* Most canned foods last from 3-8+ years after canning (depending on contents)
* Are you resourceful enough to farm/hunt/gather food?

Shelter
* Power to your home would eventually cease and if you were unable to find an alternative power supply
* No lights, air conditioning, heat, etc

Medicine
* You would eventually run into some sort of physical issues. Do you know enough to find medicine and self medicate yourself back to health?

Things to consider:

* You may have to travel if your hometown can't provide your needs
* You might want to get a pet dog for companionship
* You may have to protect yourself against wild animals

Do you think you could survive? For how long? What would your plan be?

i actually mostly live this way now except for the gathering food part


been living in isolation for about 10 years now

I could live as long as I need to. Within the time that manufactured/packaged food and water is still good (a couple years) I would spend my time finding and reading books (survival, farming, equipment manuals, etc.) and go to nearby military bases to find weapons, ammo, generators, etc. I would also go find an abandoned farm (I live near a lot of them) and maintain the crops and animals for myself. As for wild animal threats, I would just build a fence and carry my weapons on me.

The only thing I'd be mostly be worried about is medicine.

I wouldn't mind being the last person. I feel like it'd be poetic being the last of the race. Gives me time to reflect.

I would last a total of infinite. Since this would never happen, nor can it.

All the learning and physical items needed to create your own power source are readily available. Power would run for long enough for one to accommodate your learning. Move to a place that is self-dependant (i.e. off the grid) for energy.

After all, every house/mansion or whatever is yours. You rule the world de facto; everything in it is yours.

Farming is an easy skill to learn too, so use the food already present until crops start growing. There's a lot of refrigerated/frozen food that can last for months. Get manual water filters just in case/when water filtrations cease to function, or even just boil it. Get weapons just in case any dangerous animals approach (I say that and I'm in the UK, so pretty unlikely LOL).

Learn medicine. Keep medical supplies at your "base" so you're equipped for any emergencies. Look into alternative medicine and become an expert in procedures that don't require equipment or supplies to cope with tricky situations.


Experience has taught me that I'm sturdy, steadfast and strong willed, so I'd survive one way or another.

Training and keeping my moral high as possible would give some chance. My current location has a fine nature so i think at least two weeks.....

Considering that I played some Survival-games... I'd be able to survive maybe half a day xD
I'm not able to get food or water on my own in nature, so that's it for me then. But if I have enough packaged food and water, maybe I'd last longer, but at some point I'd probably kill myself. Don't want to be alone
