Y'ello NB!

It is a well known fact that the Naruto anime has been, since the first half of Shippuden (especially in War arc), a cringe-worthy show with it's bad animation, bad artwork and ridiculous amount of fillers. I am also well aware of the fact that Studio Pierrot is well hated here too. However, I don't find all the hate justified, or atleast not to such an extent.

So, here I'll list some of the fights that were served well and in some cases, even better than they were presented in the manga.

PART 1

Honestly, nearly all fights in part 1 were handled well. If the fights didn't have a good amount of well done scenes, they were atleast decent and more than watchable. So here I'll just list my 3 favourites wich I believe have done more than what was asked from them and really delivered.

From coreography to music, over animation and pure drawing, everything about this fight is awesome. In the manga, the fight is a lot shorter and a lot less interesting. Not to mention, the art was pretty poor back then so there was nothing attractive in there.

Definitelly one of my favourite fights in part 1.

Another good fight. As it covered multiple episodes, the animation varied on certain parts as it would be expected since not all episodes share the same teams or budget. Still, it moved from decent to good, without bringing any noticable inconsistencies or sudden drops in quality.

While not as spectacular as the one above, it still outdid it's manga counterpart, so it's a win.

Yes, yes, I know what you're going to say. That fight had dirpy moments, I know. However, the derpy stuff was 3-5 shots max. This fight spammed over multiple episodes and thus its quality varied, however there is not a single poorly animated part of it. The derpiness on its own is rather a problem of the quality of drawings but even so, it's not enough to deem the fight poorly done. The movements are fluid, coreography is great and the music is spot-on.

Overall, it prolonged the fight and made it a bit more interesting on the price of having a few dirpy frames. Still think it's been handled well.

PART 2

Now here things get a bit rougher. In the beginning Shippuden also had a good consistency and brought us decent watchable fights with a few exceptions. Up to Five Kage Summit (including it), things have been handled well with variety of fights whose quality ranged from watchable to great. As the War Arc started, things started going down hill. Bad coreography, bad animation and bad drawing. There are many speculations why things ended up like that, but I have 2 reasons for it.

1) The studio had been working on 2 movies continuously (notice how we didn't get a movie for 2 years and then ended up with The Last and Boruto in the same year). Movies, obviously, have a lot better quality as they are shorter but aimed at cinema. A lot more attention is being given to them, so all the best animators were gone to work on them, leaving the not-so-good teams to work on the anime.

2) Anime industry as a whole, has suffered quite a drop in quality in the past few years. Other huge shows have also felt a strain in quality such as One Piece. Now there could be many factors to blame here, from poor working conditions, lack of finances etc, but the results are evident. Many long anime have seen a drop so it's not a problem unique to Pierrot, let alone Naruto anime.

Despite this, there have been quite a few fight that are eye-candy to fans. Many of Shippuden's fights were well done, but weren't anything exceptional, so here I'll list only the really well done fights.

Really, no comment needed. The fight was well adapted, with animation varying from good to really good.

While the fight was well done in general, the first part is spectacular. The way Sasuke fights agains Deidara's clay creatures is really well realised. The coreography is awesome and animation is done by one of the best directors so what more can you ask? :D

Really the same case as the above one. Coreography is well done, the movements are great and the music is spot-on. There is really no bad part of this fight.

Amazing, absolutely amazing. Studio Pierrot really pulled off a great emotional fight wich really gave Hinata her much needed development (if only Sakura was as lucky). Animations is once again great, the coreography is original and well done, and I absolutely love the stylized glow on Hinata's hair. Short but heart-breaking. I nearly cryed a river when I first watched this. :'(

Ok, ok, before you stone me, please listen. I know this fight did leave many people angry but I'll point out why it's not as bad as people make it out to be. The first part of it (before Naruto goes Kyubii) is just decend animation that is watchable and doesn't look bad. The second part, is the problem. xD

What many people find bad about the fight is the derpiness of some frames and the absurdity of some scenes (Naruto nailing Pain in to the ground like he's a nail), but this isn't the problem with animation. Indeed, the derpiness of the frames makes this fight unworthy of being on the list or anywhere near it, but I just wanted to point out that the problems are realted to people who drew the key-frames, not the animators. Lesson? Don't do drugs while making anime.

One of my favourite fights. Really excells at all points. It's short so everything is consistent and the stylized in-between frames give it a nice refreshing effect.

While the entire Five Kage Summit has been well animated, this fight stands out with it's matrix dodges and great coreography with the Hawk Summon, wich hasn't been featured in the manga. The art may be inconsistent at some points, but the fight has been well done, non-the-less.

Seeing Konan and Tobi fight it out is great on its own, but seeing them in great animation is priceless! This is exactly what we're served here. A dramatic music that adds to the well animated fight with a subtle use of CGI for the paper ocean really made it one of the best fights in the late Shippuden. Poor Konan tough... u.u

We have entered the dreaded War Arc and what we got after a lot of badly animated fights is a real treat. Here I'm talking about Naruto synching with Kurama and fighting against other Tailed Beasts. The lines were sharp, the colors great, the animation good. Add epic My Name ost to it and you're in heaven.

Do I really need to explain this one? Hands down, the best animated episode in the whole series. Everything about it is hollywood like. The epic music, the epic coreography, the epic animation and the epic drawings! Everything about it is EPIC! (minus the early rinnengan, that was a game breaker)

I don't think I need to explain this one either. Shorter but not short on amazing. The suprise of the fans after a dozen bad episodes was great indeed. Animation, art, coreography, music - Everything. Is 10/10.

Conclusion

And there you have it folks. This was my list of best pulled off fights in the Naruto series. There are many good fights that I didn't list but I'll leave it at that. The post is too long anyway. The point is: appreciate the great stuff we had before and don't let the bad quality of today erase the good memories of yesterday. Studio Pierrot is indeed unfair for draggin the fillers around but anime, like everything else is a business. There are financial reasons for such things, but I just hope after all that is over, the fight between Naruto and Sasuke will get the justice it deserves.

If Pierrot makes the fight longer and better than it was in the manga, then my hat is off and I will be ready to forgive all the mistakes they made before. We have to wait and see.

At first I wasn't reading the manga. I only watched the anime and that's how I fell in love with Naruto. I love it and it will always be special to me. it has dropped off in terms of quality but that doesn't prevent me from enjoying it when it's canon and you're also right, you can't let that make you forget how good it used to be.

I simply enjoy Naruto for what it is, not what people say it should be. I mean there were lots of people complaining about Pain turning into rubber man, but really who gives a shit lol. If that makes you cringe then you should seriously get a life lol.

Yea what I really hate is when people take still shots of when they're moving and then they're like yea looks like shit. when it's actually animated the way it should be then it doesn't look that bad. Like have they ever seen when they show the instant replay of track stars like usian bolt in the middle of the race, exactly.

Same here. That first episode made me fall in love with it.

Same I fell in love after the first episode lol

The only cringe-worthy thing is the so-called fanbase who keeps whining all day.
Well those calling something that is bad is justified if that something is truly bad. This is the case for the current filler marathon.

Those who say the anime as a whole is cringe-worthy, are the ones baring the trait. I agree.

Exactly!! even real people in the middle of something looks strange when slowed right down or in a still shot. But meh I never listen to anyone complaining about the quality of any anime, its just people with no life trying to find something to ***** about like they could do a better job lol. Things are what they are, the sooner people accept that the more they will actually enjoy watching anime.

I only started reading the manga when the anime was going too slow but everyone was already discussing things that would have taken 1-2 years for teh anime to catch up, and I didn't want to miss the discussions. That was about the time when I joined NB.

I started watching the anime 9-10 years ago, and I didn't have an issue with the animation. The problem is with the boring fillers xd

I'm not an expert at animation so I don't mind if the quality is not so good.

I only started reading it at the war arc, when anime got butchered.

I am an animator so I notice the mistakes they make easily.
