[Discussion] Luffy needs a huge powerup

We have seen that Luffy has grown tremendously over the past 2 years but his power is nowhere near high ranking officials of navy or the powerful logias.......I mean to say that Luffy is a great fighter but he needs a lot more than hand to hand combat to beat people like Aokiji or Akainu.......BB is quite away from his reach at this moment....I mean to stand up against Gura Gura no mi and the Darkness Df is gonna be just impossible even in gear 4th......And how strong is the Armament haki after all? Can it stand upto Akainu's Magma or Enel's lghtening(not including LUffy here)?

I feel he needs to get stronger in base first, he's just too weak in his base form, then he needs to be better with G4, I'd prefer if he has no more gears, if he's stronger overall his KKG will be Lethal to even the likes of Akainu.

He needs another time-skip, not just an overnight shift in his overall capabilities...
First time-skip got him to the high-Shichibukai level, he should get better to the level of Yonko top crew members...
Second time-skip would get him to the Yonko level and he'll get even better to be able to stand up against anyone in the OP world...

i don't think they are gonna improve his base form...they would have done it in the first timeskip itself....i too wanted him to get powerful in his base form

He needs to impove his base stats, his haki and maintain gear 4 longer, that's it.
Doflamingo is imo first mate Yonko level and the way Luffy treated him is proof that G4 can manage too give a fight too almost anyone right now

Oda'll have to sometime, he can't just keep churning out gears, the timeskip was for haki training (and he got better in base but his base form is still pretty weak). I don't see the need for another timeskip

He could get more experienced with Gear 4 and be able to use it longer. He could awaken his DF, and he could be hiding more variants on Gear 4 (Remember, the form he used against Doffy was called "Poundman". Maybe there are forms other than Poundman?)

And of course, the easy way of giving him a power up, Gear 5th.

you can't merge gear 4th and garp dude...i think its garp's haki that makes him a powerhouse....

Well that would have to be well thought coz only awakened df user we know is Doffy.....and guess if a logia gets awakening too then....IMO i think dragon might help him improve at some point like Rayleigh did

Actually, the demon animal guards at Impel Down are Awakened Zoan users (And it's possible that Choppers Monster form is something akin to awakening), it's not just Doffy we've seen. Although we don't knpw anything about how a DF is awakened, or what that would mean for Luffy (Or anyone but Zoans and Doflamingo, for that matter)

hmmmm you are right...but still gomu gomu fruit can be said to be funny rather than OP as compared to other logia or paramecia so the awakening needs to be rather strong....or Oda might compensate that with Luffy's OP haki

Lots of Paramencia sound useless. I mean, how could someone destroy a country with the powers of string?

According to Oda, he designed Luffy's powers to seem useless at first, but able to be a serious threat if used correctly, as opposed to, EG, Enel's Lightning powers which are OP in anyones hands.

Don't compare only to Doflamingo and his elites......they had average or rather lame dfs but great skills in using them......you got Law, WB and many other examples that are way more powerful than gomu gomu

yeah you are right there could be other varieties and staying longer in G4 also without much disadvantage would be badass

Also I think people serverly underestimate Luffys fighting capability. Gear 4th showed Luffys ability to be creative in his fighting style. Also while Luffys may have had a struggle with Doffy it really came down to his ability to maintain Gear 4th not that he wasnt strong enough, fast enough, or lacked battle prowness. Chances are next time Lfuffy goes gear 4th he will be able to maintain it for much longer than he did before. I mean think about it Luffys has the ability to fly with his rubber man fruit....he has the ability to create fire from his punches....I doubt we have see then limits of his fighting style or capability vs doffy....Also it should be noted that Luffy created fire while submerged in water, thats how hot the fire is...

See the thing is he is strong but not consistent.....he can't take on many powerful enemies one after the other...he gets too much beaten up or exhausted and that wont do in a fight against a yonko or a navy admiral. Thats what he needs to improve

I strongly disagree that Doflomingo is first mate yonko level. Doflamingo doesnt seem capable or strong enought to handle, let alone defeat, opponents like Jack, Marco, Ben Beckman, or Dark King Rayleigh.

At best Doflamingo is High Shichibuki level, but he has yet to demostrate power that would allow me to believe he can content with current yonko first mates.
