Why are we calling them "adult" coloring books? They're coloring books. I can't be the only one who gets a little annoyed when people do stuff like that, "Oh I wanna do this but it might seem childish let me change the name" It's not adult coloring books, you bought a coloring book. It's not a graphic novel, you bought a comic book. Enough already. If you don't have the nerve to call it what it is, you're probably not really that into it and are just riding a trend.

They're called adult coloring books because the patterns aren't the same as the ones named for children. They're usually more complex, while children's coloring books are made to be more amusing and feature child characters. They're called adult coloring books because one type is literally made to specifically appeal to adults, and the other to children.

And I'm pretty sure the difference between graphic novels and comic books is the graphic novels are literally novels in the form of a drawings and panels. As in, while comic books are more like magazines that just stretch on forever, graphic novels are a series with a book that starts it and a book that ends it. If Harry Potter in the form of drawings and panels, no, it would not be a comic book franchise, it'd be a graphic novel franchise.

I honestly don't see why you're whining about this.

When did one post become whining? Also you're wrong. Watchmen is a comic not a graphic novel. What you are describing is a light novel.
"A graphic novel is a book made up of comics content. Although the word "novel" normally refers to long fictional works, the term "graphic novel" is applied broadly and includes fiction, non-fiction, and anthologized work. It is distinguished from the term "comic book", which is used for comics periodicals."

A graphic novel is just a hard back(usually) version of a *** which is a collection of arcs that tell a definitive story. Whatever pomp and frills you'd like to dress it in, it's still just a collection of comics. Maus is a comic, Bone is a comic, The Spirit is a comic, Watchmen is a comic etc. etc. etc.

I thought adult coloring books meant something else when I read the title.

To me it's whining because of the level of unimportance the "issue" in the OP has.

Okay? There's still a difference between a comic book and a graphic novel. Debating what the difference is doesn't really matter, what matters if the difference is there. "Comic book" and "graphic novel" aren't interchangeable.

In general they are the same but the names are fine since they're subcategories.

Adult color books (never heard about them before honestly) are a category of color books.

Graphic Novels are a category (or rather a format) of comic books.

Exactly, you can't go on calling a 15 page comic issue of the walking dead a graphic novel unless it's a series of issues compiled into novel format.
Don't see the big issue behind this OP though :bdpf:

I'm not old or depressed :shy:*_*

OT: It is a colouring book; specifically it is an adult colouring book (although I don't believe there is any age restriction, the patterns might be too intricate for young children). Also, colouring is not necessarily childish :p In fact, I kind of feel like colouring right now *_*

Adult coloring books more like patterns. They already knew things and just want to keep it as hobby.

Child coloring books is for kids to learn like animal, number etc.
