Think about the effect it would have on our current state of life. Maybe they are here studying us and don't want to disrupt our current life so their studies are more natural.

It would make more sense that they already influenced our way of living since the get-go. There are several gigantic underground tunnels in Romania, USA, Canada, etc where common folks aren't allowed to enter. Not saying this is true, but I am saying we know absolutely jack shit of the history of our species.

I agree, but if you really want to understand something you let nature take its course. I'm not saying they didn't play a role in our actions until now, but if they are there and are hyper intelligent beings, then they would want us to know very little about them. As to not influence our actions as a society.

Yes, but we've gotten to a point that trying to redeem our freedom is futile so if they parade around every now and then it wouldn't matter. We will fret a bit over weird sightings, demand info from our govts, get ignored by our govts and just go back to our every day paycheck slaving.

Yes and no, a lot of answers would be demanded and people would start doubting everything they know. The government would lose any credibility it had left and many people would likely have blindly followed the government would start to wake up and many religious sects would start losing followers. Also, it depends on the type of Alien and it's reason for being here on Earth. This is a complex topic with many possibilities, but never lose faith in the resourcefulness of humans. Many are lazy and trash, but there are many who make up for it.
