Small tidbit from this week's SJ Podcast: Hisashi Sasaki mentioned that Ikemoto was actually Kishimoto's chief assistant on Naruto. I had figured that was probably the case since he's the only assistant who had been with him for the entire run, but it's nice to have confirmation.

New SJ Podcast, new tidbits. Andy Nakatani, English WSJ's Editor-in-Chief, returned from his trip to Japan and Jump Festa, where he interviewed Kishimoto. Bullet points:

  • Confirmation that his next series will be sci-fi.
  • Kishimoto said that Boruto will be a legitimate, canon part of the Naruto universe.
  • As such, Kishimoto is really going to supervise it. "Like, super-supervise it."
  • Kishimoto considers the Boruto serial to be just as important as the new manga he's working on, so in his mind he's giving them both equal attention.

Well these are great news, let's hope he convinces them that they need to chage the artwork a lil bit cause that poster doesn't look that good...

Yay hes going to supervise it! I like the art work from the new guy. And Sarada looks cute in her outfit! I can't wait to see more.

Looks like kishi took some notes from George Lucas about milking. I doubt this series will get anywhere it might even get cancelled.

since hes not the one pulling the strings but only supervising, this might actually be better.

hopefully thered be less ass-pulling this time. and sci-fi, thatd be great. i wonder how well itll blend with narutoverse.
I mean weve seen how the Raikage is investing pretty much everything on technology. what kind of wacko science tech will he obtain next? loved his giga-cannon.

will they be using guns and stuff? or will it be like Legend of Korra style sci-fi?

What's funny is that Kishi is talking like his Sci-fi Manga was going to be a success. They shit probably be trash. :/

Is it weekly or monthly or one-shot?

I mean honestly we don't really have much to go for when it comes to Kishimoto supervising.. The only thing in that genre is the Last, and we all know how terrible that was. Kishimoto's writing has been sup bar till the Boruto Movie, and that wasn't even 'amazing' if you compare it to his old writing in the earlier Part 2 arcs, and Part 1 in general.

50/50 chance still though.

It's a monthly release for the Boruto Manga, but Kishimoto himself is making a one-shot focused on Mitsuki.
