:lmao: The magnetic field is a simply way of me showing that the planet is not dead. The core is active thus activating a magnetic field shielding it from solar wind and other dangerous particles coming from supernovas, quasars and such threats.

Why in the world do you start comparing it with the rest of this solar system? Planets after mars are all gigants with some special properties, but the main source of life is light. They are simply to many Astronomic units far away.

Mars core is not as active as before since all vulcanic activity has stopped, thus making it clear that without a magnetic field the solar wind destroys the oppurtunity for proper life to exist.
Jupiter on the other hand has ultra extreme weather and the largest magnetic field, streching almost to saturn. Its protection is very dense but since its orbital rotation is 13.3 km/s the days are short, and its a 9 hour day my friend. Saturn is similar in weather and almost in size. But remember that jupiter quite big on the centre for the sole purpose of balancing the orbits and to swallow threats like comets .

OF COURSE earth is alive, what do you really think life is about?. It is everything, connections. The earth is just another exoplanet placed on the perfect place. Moving through the void of space with its momentum, perfect speed and Gravitational force.
Life cannot be given or "donated" if the donator himself is not alive.
A moving car has a core that is active, i.e., the engine. Is a car alive?

Also, none of that shit about Jupiter and Saturn answer if they're alive or not. You know why? Because none of that shit is the qualification for life. Life has 7 qualifications, none of which you have mentioned.

What if universe is a living thing and all the planets are its babies?!
Well, yeah, a problem with this Gaia thing is that it talks as if Earth was an autopoietic system, when in fact in order for life to exist, you need the Sun and many other supporting factors, so with that much effort you could just say that the Solar system is one big living organism parts of which exist in symbiotic harmony, and with the same effort you could just say that the whole universe is a big living organism. Also, it kinda implies that the Earth 'acts' in this way as if consciously.

Which is fine by me, after all you can re-define what life means to you (not just you Naruko, I'm talkign in general here xd), but scientifically it's not the same.

Really, I don't mind if people say things like the world is just the vibration of God's thoughts or things like that, I guess in a way these claims make sense. We all perceive the world differently, to each his own- but let's not confuse scientific definitions with our own euphemisms.

The Earth doesn't reproduce, consist of dividing cells, or grow though. It lacks too many characteristics of living things to actually be living.
To our understanding and definitions. It does kind of grow in a way, obviously not the size as humans but the terrain grows on it. I understand that's not the same but maybe this comparison will bring them closer; If a body is in a coma it's alive and some of it's external features continue to grow, like hair. In that way we could look at our Earth, the core the body and the nature on the surface the hair/fingernails etc. that continue to grow as our body's are stuck.

Not saying it's a sentient being that breathes oxygen and reproduces but much like a plant is "alive". Our understanding and classification of life at this time may not be complete(as most of our information is shown to be throughout time) we base our opinions and beliefs on the best and most logical information at the time but many times before we've found out that what our ancestors called fact based on empirical evidence was really incorrect based on what we know now.

So no it's not alive in context of human beings being alive but what is alive anyway? Does something need a brain or a heart or blood to be alive? What about Bacteria? Is it alive? So no it's not alive in that sense like Mogo from Green Lantern

And none of that shit did answer if jupiter is alive or not?, bruh being that ignorant can be dangerously cancerous, you are pathetically bound to your own perceiving of life. And comparing a mere car with this healthy planet you stand on is disgusting.

Life is connections whether you like it or not and the internal core of this planet is its heart beating steadly time for time. It is alive since its produces life. And the sun keeps feeding energy to it, and what is the planet without a magnetic field? Its a complete desert just like the moon or mars.

A bacteria is alive because it fulfills the category of life. While you might be right that our idea of life is different from the full picture, its still a bit wild to say the planet is alive.

Life - "The property or quality that distinguishes living organisms from dead organisms and inanimate matter, manifested in functions such as metabolism, growth, reproduction, and response to stimuli or adaptation to the environment originating from within the organism." (The American Heritage Dictionary)

Earth is inanimate matter, not a life form.

And what gives you life?, your atoms will not perish and and were formed with stardust. Nothing is forgotten, everything on this planet has been overused for 4.5 billions of years. Unless you truly belive there is a soul in every organism.

From the moment life first appeared on Earth it has worked hard to make Earth a more comfortable place to live.
Anyway, now that I think of it, this statement in itself is quite troublesome, at least to me. If Earth is alive, then what does it mean that life appeared on Earth? Wasn't it alive from the beginning? What is the point where you can say the Earth is alive? Or is the life of Earth itself different than the life that appeared on it? So we've got more definitions of life now? Or, does it mean that Earth can be considered alive since and only because life appeared on it? Also, when did exactly life appear on Earth? Also, what does it mean that Earrth/life worked hard??? Is it hard for the Sun to produce energy? How can a planet work hard? Also, now, is Earth a living organism or a place to live?

So many contradictions...

@Bold literally has nothing to do with anything. You basically described what I just told you. None of that is evidence or proof of life.

Just stop it.

i described what you told me?, smh i am telling you whats beneficial for life and the connections. Life from human perspective means there is water, and in Neptune it seems to rain even diamonds. A planet is truly alive when its giving birth to a ecosystem.

What you define as "proof" of life is litterally thinking you are the only organism in the cosmos.

... What are you even saying?
what am i saying?, being "alive" is a endless cycle. Your remains will never die.

There is no point in trying to explain astrobiologi to you.

Being alive isn't an endless state, nor is it a cycle. Once I die, I'm not gonna be alive anymore and my remains don't classify as living matter.

Also, if you think there is no point in explaining your statements then you shouldn't participate in a debate.

Just come back when you have some actual evidence of your claims. Not philosophical viewpoints.

This seems to be more of a philosophical vision to change mankind's perception of the Earth rather than being a scientific theory. This is all about how we should perceive nature and our planet rather than what our planet really is. As a result I find it from a scientific point of view utterly redundant and useless, especially taking into consideration the contradictory nature. If you would follow that "theory" literally, well than whatever we do can never be considered a "mistake" as we are part of the organism and whatever we do is by default justified.

There's a reason why people are so obsessed these days with Mars. Because it's barely a few months away from the Earth, but it's a complete wasteland where scientists already get ecstatic when they find a few pools of water. If our planet had been just been a bit more to the right or left, everything could have been completely different. The Earth didn't decide to exist right in this place because it was convenient for life, the Earth coincidently ended up having all the conditions that enable it to have life. If one of those conditions disappears, it can kill all life just as easy.

This is pretty much the principle of Newton's Third Law, that every action has an equal and opposite reaction or something. When something happens, there will be consequences and these consequences follow the laws of nature. There have been five mass extinctions in the history of our planet. Putting aside the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs, which can be considered an external factor, most of the other extinctions happened due to the planet itself. Why? Because an action happened and the reaction was the extinction of nearly all life on earth. Nature does not "undo" or "restore" "mistakes". There will simply be automatic reactions that could both destroy as support life.

When you introduce a new species into an ecosystem and that species ruins the original ecosystem, only mankind would see it that way. In reality the ecosystem merely changed due to the conditions. That's why this theory is more philosophical/ideological than anything else. It gives the impression that there is some kind of an original natural order where everything works harmoniously and that we are screwing it up. It's the complete opposite of that, that's not how nature works. It's a chaotic, merciless world that will automatically destroy anything that will not adapt to the everlasting changes. For every species that exists today countless of others disappeared and I'm pretty sure none of them ever did something wrong to deserve such a fate. Nature consists out of an infinite amount of actions and corresponding reactions, from ones limited to your backyard to ones that cover the entire world.

It's a nice concept for people so that they would perceive the world differently and might act more respectable and responsible for our world, but from a scientific point of view it's bogus.
