But just because white Christians aren't in the "middle ages" doesn't mean that the rest of the world is out of it. Millions of people in the middle east and Africa deal with war, hunger, disease, inequality, etc so for them the "middle ages" is still a very real thing.

It's a stretch for you to claim that my argument was made to "justify their actions". Did I say that? No. What I am getting at is that there is no reason in saying "Christians aren't doing that now" when Christians achieved first world status by doing the exact same thing. In my eyes it is hypocritical for us to say we're clean when we were just doing that yesterday.

I agree that there is a lack of respect for European law and obviously these men need to be brought to justice. I'm also pretty sure that when they are brought in that respect for the European law will be thoroughly established. Either way though, just as you said, we cannot use this act of 1,000 men to condemn a population of over 5 million refugees, which unfortunately some people on this thread are doing.
