It was explained in the databook, that he has to perform rituals to maintain his immortality.

And it's a Kinjutsu placed on him by his cult or something (all from the databook).

A lot of you are just talking about how Hidan maintains his immortality. The question being asked is how he even acquired the ability in the first place. All we really have to go on is that he was "experimented" on in Kusagakure.

Also, Hidan is not only immortal when he's casting the ritual as Yami claimed. This is obvious. He was stabbed by those 2 leaf shinobi while just standing idly around and it didn't even faze him. Kakuzu says multiple times that he would kill Hidan, but he just can't. Hidan's immortality remains constantly active as long as he has performed his sacrificial ritual in the past few days.

After you get through his body armored puppet that requires a great deal of percussive force to get by, without getting scratched a single time, and after Sasori reveals his weakness in the first place.

Looking back at akatsuki members, naruto probably can one shot all of them with his Bijuu rasenshuriken.Kishi increased the power levels by too much.
As for hidan, he and kakazu were really cool but hidan's immortality cant be explained I guess.
