Once in an interview Oda revealed that Luffy's parents have already been shown in the manga....we all know about dragon but what about his mom? When was she revealed? Has anyone found anything about it?

Not all main characters need special parents. I hate when shonen manga make the hero some kind of child of prodigy out of them. Dragon, Garp and Shanks are more than enough for Luffy to explain his strength and his will.

There was this interview with Oda for American Shonen Jump, Dec 09.
Someone asked (John Irons), "What was Luffy's mother like? Was she beautiful? What happened to her? Did she die when Luffy was a baby?"
Then Oda said, "I think she's alive. I'm still thinking very hard about this [laughs]. But if she does appears in the story, then she'll be a very tough-looking woman. And strict. There's no way she's a beautiful mother. She's got this typical middle-aged woman's permed hair..."

But when I went through orojackson site discussion regarding this, they concluded that probably Oda's design on Luffy's mom had changed after the appearance of Dadan. There's hope that she may be a real beauty that I really would love to see u_u

I agree, I don't like that they're making a big deal about who Luffy's mother is. It shouldn't matter just like it doesn't matter who Zoro's parents are etc. They can still be badass without having some Narujesus bloodline shit going on.

It would make sense for his mother to be important to and just like any element of story its up to the author. I'm certian that if oda did naruto blood lines would be different even with the same basic concept

His mother doesn't have to be anyone important, just a chick that got screwed by Dragon. We don't need to know who she is because we have a perfectly good story without adding Naruto stuff into it. Ace was Roger's son, didn't stop him from getting a hole in his chest by Akainu. So whoever Luffy's mother is she's irrelevant. It won't matter in the long run because regardless of family ties, each character has their own story and can be awesome without us ever knowing their parents.
