Why do people hate Sakura?

I don't want to get accused of bashing Sakura, not saying that I wouldn't, cause I would. Instead, let me show you a pretty decent comment on why people hate sakura.

"Sakura is so disappointing because she had so much potential to be one of my favorite characters. She started off as an annoying girl that only cared about getting in Sasuke's pants, then after repeated rejections, she started to work hard to be a better teammate to Sasuke and Naruto. Then her character development took a nose dive when she let Sasuke leave the village. She even went as far as asking to join him and become a traitor herself. After she was rejected again, she trained with Tsunade and actually got pretty strong and learned healing jutsu. She even took out an Akatsuki member in an epic fight. But then she took another nose dive when she failed to kill Sasuke when she had the chance (who at this point was trying to murder Kakashi and Naruto). See a recurring pattern here? Her love of Sasuke is a major flaw in her character. She doesn't care about her friends, her village, even herself, she only cares about being with Sasuke.

Sakura should have had enough self-respect to stop throwing herself at a guy that hates her guts and focused on being a better konoichi. She should have learned that protecting the village is more important that her personal feelings. Maybe she should have joined ANBU as a tracker ninja to stop anyone else from betraying the village. I guarantee that fans would like her a lot more if she did something badass like that, but instead she remained useless almost the entire series and is literally only in the story to have Sasuke's kids. I give Sakura credit when it's due. She's strong, has excellent medical ninjutsu skills, and has the seal. But this doesn't excuse her for her dumb behavior. Her obsession with Sasuke is the main one, even after he treated her pure sh*t throughout the entire series, she still married him and had his kid Sakura was still pretty crappy in part 2 as well.

She let Naruto get beat up by that black chick while she was on her knees crying for Sasuke like she did 90% of the time in the series. Plus, she had all that strength and still acted like a damsel.

Also, a lot of hate comes from the really vocal, and viscerally idiotic Naruto fanboy lobby that always treads well past the healthy and chirpy 'wanker' line. They simply despise the notion that Sakura 'rejected Naruto' repeatedly in favour of Sasuke; a character that faces a lot of unnecessary backlash for very trivial, dull and astronomically stupid reasons. When it's hilarious how Hinata and Ino are no different in this aspect of dense, unyielding characters. At least Sakura does her military side justice.

Hence, it's nothing more than knee-jerk, petulant reactions that drive a common Naruto and Hinata's fan's existence. Sakura rejected Naruto ... that nerd rage. Hinata got sidelined because of Sakura ... more nerd rage ... It looks beyond the notion of 'mental' to any decent outsider; it just looks sad as hell.

How the hell was she useless?

Forget Part I, let's see part II:

- Gaara Arc:

1 - Figured out the antidote for Sasori's poison. Even he himself needs a recipe for it. It's that complicated. He was shocked that she had worked it out so perfectly at only 15 years of age.

2 - That allowed her to heal Kankaro and strengthened Sand's ties with Leaf. Given that he's Kazekage's brother. That is a political-level feat.

3 - Fought with Chiyo by confusing Sasori more than once and shielding her more than once - it was a joint effort. Because of that, Chiyo was kept alive long enough to bring Gaara back to life. Bringing Gaara back to life wouldn't have been possible without Sakura at all. That's a major plot turning point.

- Chasing Sasuke Arc:

- Figured out Kamui's two-fold usage completely. The only person to do so in the manga. She even hypothesized that it was an S/T Teleportation Jutsu. It took Kakashi 200 chapters to figure that out. But apparently, this moron is the smartest guy in the manga according to NB.

This was a major plot point that literally helped in unmasking Obito in the war arc.

- Pein Arc:

- She figured out the Chakra Rods reacting to frequencies faster than Shikamaru, which led to Naruto's eventual face to face encounter with Pein.

- War Arc:

1 - Already explained above. One of the most important plot turning points in the manga, "Obito Unmasking" only happened because of Sakura.

2 - She figured out how Obito was using White Zetsu to hurt the medical division and thus cripple the enemy in war. In fact, she's the sole person to figure out (completely) as to how Zetsu chakra works.

3 - She created footholds with Katsuya along with Tsunade to save thousands and give Naruto and Sasuke enough time to tackle Obito.

4 - She helped seal Katsuya.

5 - Healed Naruto and kept him on life support long enough for Bijuus to be implanted within her.

Clearly, all the makings of a completely useless character.

Agreed. Everything about her was never properly developed. She lacked in many departments as a character. Kishi showed little to no interest in her. I have seen many characters in her archetype. If done right they could be very entertaining characters.
