Ok I've read at least 5 different theories on Kaneki & Uries dialogue in CH 57 so I wanted to tell how I interpreted the situation and what I think about . one thing that bothers me is no one brought up what akira said to sasaki in CH 1 of Re .

. the whole point of him being the leader of the Qs is to raise a inspector that can surpass arima . and to me this chapter demonstrate who he believe the most capable is Urie.

By saying this to Urie he's forcing Urie to face his weakness and acknowledge the fact that he has to work harder if doesn't want to lose anybody else

since ishida had kaneki quote Rize here . I think that he plans to make kaneki for Urie becomes what Rize was for Kaneki . what made him become strong and the reason he became able to obtain the power he wants so he can achieve something . he's giving him Psychological torture to break whatever barrier is holding him back . forcing him to try harder to get as strong as he can . I might just be over thinking but Urie is most likely the one kaneki chose to surpass arima .
P.S - mobile made thread quality might be bad sorry

Who is "he"? And are you joking? I don't think Urie has the potential to surpass Arima Kishou. Urie has the potential to become a special class investigator, maybe even come close to Arima to a certain degree in terms of power, but he will never surpass Arima. The only character capable of Surpassing Arima is KenKaneki.

Ken Kaneki is not Urie's, Rize. Hahahaha! The only thing that maybe holding Urie back from reaching his full potential is his love for himself, the need to achieve a higher rank.

Everyone has their own point of view.

That quote was first used by Yamori, not Rize. Kaneki also defected from the Qs, so he has no intention of actively making Urie get stronger. Also, while Rize did indeed push Ken toward the road to get stronger, there were a lot of other events that influenced him in his life, and overall Kaneki and Urie are just different. Lastly, Urie surpassing Arima is never happening, though that line will make him seek out more power, but will he become another Kaneki? No.

It's from an upcoming movie: ''Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions''.

Thanks, as for what you said about Rize pushing him to get stronger, I think you're wrong. What Rize only did was to become the cause for him to become a half-ghoul. However, everything we've seen throughout the torture scene is an illusion. Kaneki never got to learn what Rize was like, they only had one date and that was it. In truth, what was depicted as "Rize" throughout the story was his personal thoughts who were projected on her "existence". If you really think about it, all this time he was only projectiled himself along with his mother's cruelty. In other words, Rize never really did push Kaneki towards anything. It was Kaneki who was pushing himself while speaking to her (to what she represented: his thoughts and his mother) in his imagination so he can survive the torutre without losing his mind.

Uh, actually you're confirming what I'm saying. Rize was a projection, but to survive that torture and overpower Jason he chose to accept his ghoul side since he realized what she was saying ultimately holds true. Hell, this philosophy of the strong eating the weak and all the world's problems is what made Kaneki snap, embracing his/Rize's power. Rize (the illusion created) was the thing that pushed Kaneki towards more power, since he canonically both:

1. Got stronger to overcome Yamori
2. Continued to grow stronger because that quote was like his dogma

^ All of this was because of Yamori's quote and his self-projection in the form of Rize repeating it and making him realize it was true. So yeah, Rize did push him to this path. If you're simply arguing that it wasn't really Rize, then that's just semantics - it was her image, therefore it can be viewed like that.

I just wanted to clarify it because lately I'm beginning to think that many people haven't realized that in reality Kaneki knew nothing of Rize and therefore we as readers never really got to meet her, glad we agree.
