Madara's Mangekyou Ability

Could it be that he only really had one MS ability - Susanoo? Maybe the only uniqueness in his MS was that it simply gave him more powerful Susanoo capabilities, such as Susanoo clones when he fought the 5 Kage.

its possible. Some Ms abilities are really just amplifications of certain core abilities e.g. Tsukuyomi and Enton. But imo it's just because of his monstrous chakra

I don't think that is his MS Power.

Every Mangekyo power that uses their eyes as a medium has almost always zoomed into their eyes before even using their Mangekyo power. I highly doubt him to differentiate between Kage Bushins and the original is an MS power. It's likely because he's very perceptive and has a high amount of battle experience.

His Mokuton and Gunbai should compensate for the lack of his unique MS ability.

From the way he's spoke, it seems he maybe referring to his Eien no Mangekyô Sharingan.​

I highly doubt that's the case when two Mangekyō Sharingan users needed two other Sharingan techniques to unlock the Susanoo. In Itachi case, he stated Susanoo was do to Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi awakening. While in Sasuke's case, he stated Susanoo is awakened through unlocking two techniques, which is why it's called "The Third Power" (meaning two others have to be unlocked for the user to have this one) and in Sasuke's case one of them was Kagutsuchi. We also have to look at the fact that Susanoo was never unlocked by either Obito or Kakashi until the two Mangekyô Sharingan became one.​
