Genjutsu like the finger genjutsu will be easily detected by a sensor like Nagato, who can promptly disrupt his chakra flow through stabbing himself with a chakra rod or firing off a giant Shinra Tensei omnidirectionally to throw Itachi back

The Rinnegan cant block all forms of Genjutsu. Im also doubting that Nagato wouldn't have a counter for izanagi nor izanami. I beleive part of the reason Tobi had real control over Nagato was the fact he could use Izanagi at any point to beat Nagato. I do agree with the points you made in your thread i just wanted to add these points as well. All in all i honestly truly believe there wouldn't be a real winner. In fact i beleive both would end up dead.

Itachi has never shown Izanagi, nor would Izanami work on Nagato.

Tobi controlled Nagato through brainwashing, as made clear several times in the story. There's no proof Nagato even knew of Izanagi's existence.

Obito had control of nagato because he knew what he was composed of. Izanagi can be a factor but that's the least of his problems. Izanami however would not work on Nagato because he accepts himself and the truth where as dsm kabuto didn't.
