Some scholars call the Second Congo War the African World War. Like really? So Africa is not part of this world now :lmao:

Why is this war not considered as World War 3?

Why is it when other countries that are not developed go through dramatic events it's not big news or discussed as much? Like those terrorist attacks. Europe has a civil war a few other countries get involved and it's considered as a World War. Africa has had many civil wars and genocides.

The Second Congo War should be considered as World War 3. It doesn't matter if the fight didn't take place on other continents. World War 1 only happened in Europe. There was foreign intervention from the United Nations, Europe, and the U.S.

Did you consider the system we use to label third world nations?

But World Wars are define by all countries entering a war and not just a single country.

Probably because it involved African world only and the name makes the reference where it was fought. And it's just an easy name to refer to an important historical incident not a standard nomenclature system. e.g. Crusades.

In in WW1 and WW2, the colonial powers dragged in people living on other continents in their local conflicts and made it more global and the impact and aftermath of the war too was felt globally. I am not sure why do you class it as a "civil war"...

Otherwise, what about on going wars in Middle East? So many factions and countries ( Local and Western powers) at odds with each other, fighting for control over their territories or their neighbor's, including ethic cleansing attempts and huge death toll and mayhem?

I used to have a friend from the democratic republic of Congo that fled to my country. But besides that it is not like Congo isn't part of the world but it is more of a war inside Congo. No one really cares about that in other countries. Now if Congo declared war on sudan that it could start a war closer to ww3
