No, from my knowledge his portal doesn't attract objects so it can't be used in that manner.

Perhaps the kaguya method is possible but opening portals isn't as easy for sasuke as it is for kaguya.

True. It's not a battle weapon anyway, just an added functionality or capability that Sasuke CAN do. It's still a plus point for him over Naruto.

He can only use it as a teleportation for himself, and groups of people. Essentially he just creates, in simple terms, a door. A door to darkness if you will, if you have played Kingdom Hearts it's very similar to what the Organization 13 used to travel around.

But it doesn't do anything other than that.

He can open the portal, toss a rock into it, then switch his opponent with a rock.

Besides, a technique doesn't need to be useful in battle for it to not suck, for example, Ino's mindtransfer jutsu isn't good one on one, yet it significantly helped during the war.
