I'm a big fan of Orochimaru and Kabuto but it's crap how Shin was first passed off as a Orochimaru creation (when in reality a warning prelude to the incoming Ootsutsuki threat would make a lot more sense, considering it was a prelude to the film) A ninja who was aware of the looming Moon threat and with his 'evolution' talk inspiring Naruto/Sasuke to stay in shape and stay on their toes.

Adult Shin started to be an interesting kind of threat, depicting how peace results in society becoming more gentle and cradled. Boruto, Sarada and Chocho were all examples of this- yet it turned out this entire villain babble was entirely a red herring as Kishimoto ruins his villain in one sentence by connecting him to Oro. No reason to be connected to Itachi. No reason to be spouting nonsense about evolution and peace. LITERALLY JUST SOME GUY.

Case no.2. Mitsuki knew EVERYTHING about our main characters. I've made threads in detail about these two character's relation to Ootsutsuki before, sadly they were incorrect but also cover more depth and ground than Kishi let these characters grow into. Mitsuki in his early portrayal is OBSESSED with rank, clan and role in the grand scheme of things. Now that the series is over, I have to sadly consider Orochimaru a non-threat which breaks my heart. Being a creepy babysitter/exposition Sage in Gaiden- he's out of the picture. Mitsuki being his son adds NOTHING to the story.

Imagine if he'd been an Ootsutsuki heir. A member of the Moon clan or even a relation of Toneri. The fact that the new Team 7 was made up of a Senju/Uzumaki, a Uchiha and an Ootsutsuki is tidy and genius. The idea of him being a spy is completely understandable and would've worked to greater effect. Instead his long-awaited origin equates to a quick gag as an after-credits gag. What's the point?

I had a dream recently where Mitsuki was the heir to Kaguya, a rival/genuine friend to Boruto yet had decieved him the entire time. Instead of Dimension shifting he could instead transmute his own body into different forms of himself that existing in different dimensions. Shifting his hand into the Mitsuki from a lava dimension, a hand where in another dimension he possessed a Susanoo, a body that possessed the Truth-seeking orbs. Imagine the potential for this sly, mysterious guy.

But nah, he's just the Snake transgender kid. Shame. Ultimately i'd say, a waste. Because both of these Orochimaru experiments' identities were teased in detail only to be revealed as playthings of Oro's. The only thing that I consider crappily rushed in the series are these two, and all they could've potentially taught us and fixed about the Oootsutsuki clan. I'm a huge fan of Kabuto & Orochimaru but even I know that I feel a little cheated. but dont mind me im drunk

Painfully true. Don't bring him back if he's going to do nothing- Like don't even bother with the trouble.

It's the fact that everything afterwards is ruined by his name though :/

Kishi could have done more with the characters he introduced, and the way he used Itachi's name to spice up Gaiden was funny to say the least

It's not true at all. The fact that neither Naruto nor Sasuke killed him during the timeskip shows the complicated, non-physical power he possesses over the world.

It doesn't "suck" either. Gaiden was never supposed to set the stage for the film, it was to let certain elements fall into place for the film and provide a warm-up for viewers so they can get to know more about the prophecy duo as adults, and give a little insight on the next gen, and how they interact with each other.

It was blatantly obvious from intro that Shin wasn't going to have anything to do with Ootsutsukis; he was just a fairly weak punch bag to display a little of Naruto and Sasuke's adult abilities.

Seems like a waste. You haven't adequately explained the point of Shin being an Orochimaru experiment or what it added. When it in fact hugely detracts from the story on both occasions but becoming something hugely unrelated

Shin had potential at first. Shame it went down the toilet.

It's not Orochimaru's fault the writing was reduced to shit. With Shin and Mitsuki being connected to him, there could be great scenarios where it impacts the story, but Kishimoto just didn't have time.

It's just a little underwhelming to have these potential villains relate to a Part 1 threat when our heroes are God level than the hugely unexplored Ootsutsuki who I hate, yet was hugely anticipating an in-depth explanation of.

Never got it. It's the snake guy. Whatever.

Shin should of got Madara Rinnengan and then make clones.

Orochimaru still has a Shin clone, why doesn't Orochimaru give him Madara Rinnengan which is the evolved Sharingan.
