When Nami and co were explaining what happened in the chapter two weeks ago they said only Franky and Usopp could use the coup de burst. For that reason they couldn't get away from Big Mom's crew, this is false.

Let's see, if I say I don't know how to "operate" a gun, and I find one cocked and loaded (with one bullet) , the fact that I pull the trigger does not mean I now know how to "operate" a gun I just fired a shot. There are better analogies, but that's the one I can think of now

In this translation, someone said "I" and not "WE" when referring to not being able to work coup de burst. It was probably Nami or Sanji who said they didn't know how to use Coup De Burst which makes sense since they barely are around Franky when he creates his gadgets unlike Usopp and Chopper, who are around him and fanboying 24/7.

Its not a polt hole. Sanji, Nami, Brooke wouldn't know how to use it but Chopper would, which is why he activated it.

Coup de Burst launches the ship forward. Sanji said that they were right in front of them. Using Coup de Burst would have shot them right into the Big Mom's ship. I'm pretty sure Sanji was talking about Brook's suggestion when he said "You idiot, why would we do that when the ship's right in front of us?" and the readers misinterpreted it because of the order of speech.

After all, why would Sanji call Chopper an idiot for suggesting using a cannon that shoots straight forward when the enemy is in front of them? Add in the fact that Sanji said they'd be escaping from the rear, and the Coup de Burst launches them forward, it's pretty clear that he was talking to Brook.

Sanji was talking about Chopper Btw. He said he knows how to use gaon cannon which can only be used on a target located right in front of the ship for which Sanji replied that it's not possible as the enemy was behind them.

Sanji was talking about Chopper Btw. He said he knows how to use gaon cannon which can only be used on a target located right in front of the ship for which Sanji replied that it's not possible as the enemy was behind them.

The ship was clearly moving around them, hence why it was in one position in the first panel and in another in the next. When Brook suggested CdB, it was probably in front of them at that moment.

Edit: No wait, the position was the same, the angle made it look different. Then yeah, either MP's translation was sloppy again or there's an inconsistency.

That's great and all but now you're making excuses for Oda doing a plot hole. This wasn't a translation error, they didn't say they had to refill it, they said they didn't know how to work this thing. If the coup de burst wasn't working then they would've said so. They used it before but they said they didn't know how to use it this time, that's a plot hole.

..... Either to try work things out with that Coup de Burst (which will take under a minute to launch, that is, if they can finally found the cola to refill and stuff after a few minutes spent to figure that one out), or make a diversion and escape thru what they can really do at hands?

Besides, Sanji has gotten permission from Luffy to make a counter attack. He probably assume this sort of thing may happen in worst case scenario. If they have to escape from a Yonko subordinates, they need to do some distraction, and fast.

Chopper whom had just used it didn't step in and claim he could, because he too didn't know how to work at it again after having it launch before, like how many barrel of cola is needed or where in the world the cola is stored, etc. (I don't think they need to tell us twice for that, so Brook, or someone had made it clear about it), therefore, Chopper gave a second option; Gaon Cannon, either to attack Big Mom ship for some distraction or in panic.

Though I still have my doubt on who had actually said that he didn't know how to use Coup de Burst. The statement was more like in a calm manner, I thought Sanji might be saying that.

Nah, it was Chopper. But yeah, I believe it's about re-filling, not actually using. It's just about pulling a trigger.
