He's not only my favorite Naruto character, but my favorite fictional character ever. However, one of his characteristics really bothers me...
He's so damn quick to die. I'm currently reading his light novel, and am on chapter 10. SPOILER ALERT. An asthmatic boy is one of the hostages of this bad guy named Rahyo. This boy is going to die soon without medical attention. Kakashi offers his own life for the boy's. The bad guy demands Kakashi dies before getting the boy the help he needs. Without hesitation, Kakashi uses his new jutsu called Violet Bolt on himself, intending to chop his own head off. This woman uses an ice jutsu to prevent his suicide...
WTF? That's not the only occasion where he made a rash decision to die.

kakashi has seen alot. he lived through 2 wars,had to attempt to kill both his teammates, had to attempt to kill his student...

Kakashi is one of the best characters in this manga. He is a class act all the way. Masters the sharingan, rasengan, and chidori at a young age. Pretty OP. Then there was Kamui. For what he was worth he deserved that Hokage title.

I went to one website where they rated one of the best anime characters. Kakashi was amongst them.

Well, the immense guilt he felt over deaths of Rin and Obito is one of the points of Kakashi's character. In that scan you posted, he basically proclaims himself to be of no use other than being a mean-shield. And it makes sense, considering what he's been though - in fact, it sounds a lot like he's been chronically depressed all that time. Heck, he even considered himself trash.

I too read it. But Kakashi is always my fav. I always hoped to see him in action while watching Naruto.

I've noticed this. It's not just selflessness, Kakashi is an individual who doesn't have a lot of self-worth. Hence why his young elitism changed into a sense of calm and self-loathing melancholy. Kakashi just has that getting-the-f*ck-on-with-it attitude and refusal to let more of his loved ones die.

Kakashi isn't really a chilled relaxed dude, I never saw him that way past the end of Part 1 when he gives Sasuke the tree talk. He just feels gradually sad, all of his life. He outlived everybody he loves and probably doesn't see himself as being that important or having that much importance- hence his initial reluctance to be Hokage and have another Team of Genin. That said, he's not pathetic- he's still a warrior.

I thought this was why he always stayed single and why he got along well with Jiraiya. Both have had tough lives but just get on with it whilst sticking to the Will of Fire without having to have a villain tantrum and become selfish. Kakashi's cool, but he remains on Top 5 Least Favourites list for the way he was used in the later part of the series. His character is still cool though.
