That's what I'm worried about too. I've already served 8 years and just got out. The last thing I want is to be drafted back and lose even more years of my life to this nonsense. :|
Putin will not start WW3 .This is last resort of Turkey since after Paris attack some alliance between France,Russia and US was going to happen which will for some time let Assad to stay on power.
Erdogan don´t like this so he wants to provoke Russia in order to destroy possible alliance against ISIS.
The article which I read confirmed that The Russian jet was in Turkish territory and after 10 warnings it still did not respond.
To make things worse they did not know who the jet belonged too.

Russia is lying. Russia entered Turkey airspace thinking the could get away with it again and Turkey shown they wasn't playing games, so Turkey shot them down, after the 10 warnings and no response.
So after seeing the news from today a long time ago I saw something sad. Russian jet that was going to bomb terrorists in Syria got shot down by Turkish airforce.
Turkey says the Russian SU-24 was flying over turkish airspace while Russia denies and said that they didn't violate turkish airspace and even Putin himself said that the jet flew atleast 1 km away from the border.
Both the pilots ejected from their plane but sadly enough 1 of them fell in the hands of Turkmen(not same turks that live in turkey since this is in Syria). They have close ties to Turkey and also fight against Assad (not sure if they fight isis like the FSA too)
I have seen the uncensored video on liveleak but it seemed like they did something to his neck maybe cut it since there was blood all over his neck.

Turkey wanted to speak with other NATO countries ASAP after they shot down the Russian jet. It seems like they know what they did was wrong even if Russia entered turkish airspace. If the truth means that Turkey shot them down over Syria and not turkey than it is an act of aggression which isn't why the NATO was made. The NATO was made to defend all countries in NATO from other countries. For example: Russia/china bomb Japan than all NATO countries atleast by the rules should protect japan. But since turkey attacked the Russian jet without Russia attacking turkey first means it is an act of agression (especially if it is over Syria). NATO would probably kick turkey out since they don't want to get into ww3 because of Erdogan. Atleast I hope so since I live in a NATO country and don't want war against Russia.
Now since we know Putin is a great leader I'm sure he won't stand for this.
2 reasons why.
1. There is too much pressure on Russia if Putin would say like well it can happen it is an accident. Than Russia would show that it isn't a strong country and that they wouldn't stand up against an act of agression.
2. Putin is a leader that truly cares for the Russian people. I'm sure that even 1 Russian death from a foreign country could start a war.
