What decade do you predict Sword Art Online-level VR gaming to be developed?
If Oculus Rift is the best there is currently, then I'd say the 2040s

I used one of those 3D printers to create a shield and it's pretty legit. Like its sturdy, I straight Kenny Griffey Jr.'d it with a baseball bat, and it only made a dent.

Which made me think, if they have someone get the game to print the virtual reality in some way. It's hard to explain but I can picture it. Like copy and paste but portrayed in the headset? Anyways..

I know though the matrix and SAO type won't happen, unless humans evolve towards taking the consciousness and putting it in a robot body. For that to be in a video game, grand things would have to happen in humanities evolution. Honestly with how things are going, I don't know if it will last that long.

3D printing's awesome. Wish I had the money to invest in it
I'm no scientist obviously, but I don't think neurological evolution would be necessary for SAO-level VR. But I really can't imagine that caliber of VR being safe for our brains
And God forbid setbacks in technological advancements due to WW3 or something

Very optimistic lol but I too would prefer Log Horizon as I could die and get revived vs dying and staying dead

I'd say at least 2050 and that's being hopeful, I feel it'll take much longer as there's no genuine need(drive) for this.

If we have the type of technology (connecting your brain to a device to make you feel pain, taste, etc) to do that, I don't think we'd have the luxury of playing video games. Imagine all the evil you could do with that like the memory plan that guy had in SAO.

technology is moving shockingly fast. 2030 is definately a reasonable approximation. perhaps not brain linking matrix style but very immersive quality VR.
