I feel like in this day and age people are trying to hold onto the traditional idea of the masculine man, but it's slowly being discarded for more open-minded ideas. The popular Logo TV show, RuPaul's Drag Race, has been a huge part of this "window", as Rupaul named it. Drag Queens, in short, are men who dress as women for money. They are entertainers and do Drag Shows. This has to be the biggest time in history for all drag queens, as they are widely accepted and have huge supporters. April Carrion is a past contestant of RDR and posted on his snapchat his make-up routine. This is the response someone made:

You must be registered for see images

Do you feel that we need to stick to the old traditions, or should we let them go? Do you think this was an appropriate response to April's SC, or would you not even have made a comment in the first place?

Hemingway was a man amongst men though. Hardly a fair comparison.

OT: They saw that the only requirements to being a man, are to take care of your family and to do the right thing. But I think there's something to be said about the types of guys that can hunt rhinos with their dicks, while drinking a beer

Yes, we should. Strictly adhering to gender roles and gender stereotypes leads to problems for both men and women. People should be able to dress and express themselves the way they want to.

Whose to say that the feminine man can't be the alpha male? Is being the alpha male based on character or an act of a tough guy?

We should change. If you want to comply to the notion of gender roles, fine. I certainly do in certain cases and aspects. But understand that they're not the way anyone HAS to be. If you wanna dress in the clothing of the opposite ***, for example, go for it.

As for that guy, **** that guy.

Biologically, the more masculine man is the alpha male. It has more so to do with evolution than society though. You can see it in humans just as you can see it in animals. Testosterone, which is a defining factor in masculinity, also makes people more aggressive. Traits that aren't considered "feminine" come with testosterone.

I don't know why people make it seem like gender roles are completely societal. It's natural as well. Not to say that people can't dress or act in whatever way they want.

You imply that being feminine is inferior to being masculine. So, the characteristics commonly found in women is inferior to those in men?

I don't see how you got that implication. Strength and aggression are generally masculine traits. And that has to do with nature more than society. He didn't say lack of those two traits make you inferior.
