Because Naruto won't stay Hokage forever, similar to Hashirama. Believes in entrusting the future generation and so on.

And ehhh, I'm not gonna take the new movie at face value, probably destroying Naruto if anything. And if Kishimoto (he wrote it yea?) really made 12 year old kids stronger than the guy who should've been easily able to kill the panda with a kick or a kunai throw to the head on.. then thats just him dropping the ball in writing.

But gotta remember Hiruzen served as Hokage for long time due to there being wars (the first and second great ninja wars). Where now Naruto doesn't need to.

I'd argue that because there is no war is more reason for him to last longer and be allowed to get old without being killed in battle like....almost every Hokage ever.

And Boruto was great. Subjective opinions aside, there's no feats there. Attitude-wise he simply is not Kage material, that much is clear.

Boruto was great to those who enjoy the new kids and a typical Naruto/Sasuke movie plot. But for others such as myself, who were expecting the development of side characters such as Konohamaru and his team, and potentially others in their generation. And the development in other villages and whats going on in the shinobi world in general.. its a huge disappoint.

But even Kakashi didn't last long, Naruto might serve 10 years + but i can't see it being more than 20. And Konohamaru and other side characters were sacrificed for the new kids, so not surprised he didn't seem like Kage material.

Kakashi didn't last long due to having already been so much. He wasn't very powerful and obviously didn't want to throne-block Naruto any longer than necessary. Kakashi showed disinterest in being Hokage before, but wanted to fulfill Obito's dying wishes.

There is zero reason not to have a 80 year old Naruto old man type. Would honestly be cool. We'll never see it of course, but the Hokage always resigns with the predecessor's progress in mind- neither of his children desire to become Hokage, instead Naruto has that closeness to Sarada and his son is her guardian. Outside of Kiba I doubt anybody else even wants to be Hokage.
