Why are people so stuck on "you have to kill your best friend or family member to achieve MS"

that's plain bullshit.

You unlock Mangekyo Sharingan by having someone near you (that you loved a lot) pass away...

for example; Itachi did not kill Shisui.
Itachi unlocked his MS when Shisui committed suicide in front of his eye.

you'll probably need 3 tomoe sharingan, and after that you'll need to feel great despair and oblivion...
(common feelings as someone close to you pass away)

it is not unlocked by killing your best friend or brother or any other family member lol...

this is why Sasuke didn't get his MS by killing Itachi.
but instead he got MS when Obito told Sasuke the truth about Itachi, THAT'S WHEN SASUKE GOT SAD.

obito felt responsible for not being able to prevent rins death
Itachi was unable to prevent shisui from killing himself.
madara, izuna and kakashi strait up killed their buddies.
Sasuke didnt know the truth about itachi, and regretted killing him when he learned the truth.

u should read chapter 601-605.
obito only had 2 tomoe sharingan. when he saw rin's death his 2 tomoe sharingan automatically changed to 3 tomoe and then to MS.

i clearly see a 3 tomoe before MS

when he saw rins death his 2 tomoe sharingan evolved first into 3 tomoe then into MS.
Thus 2 tomoe sharingan user can also unlock MS if they see there dear one dying infront of them.
