I forgot the specific reasons but there's been a long-standing government scandal against it for the longest that includes hiding/falsifying research data, entertainment and advertisement propaganda and all kinds of stuff to drum up fear in the masses over marijuana so they could make it illegal (it clearly worked). You're almost there but you didn't even mention Henry J. Anslinger then man who went to William Randolph Hearst and told him there was a threat to his paper empire. He also went before the Senate and said weed makes white women want to sleep with negroes and it makes mexicans violent, THAT's the main reason it was banned in the first place. Then in the 50's General Douglas Macarthur started his red scare and everyone was worried about communism so they went with the story weed encourages communism and subverts the war effort to keep it illegal.

Marijuana is a Natural alternative for pharmaceutical "medicine", cattle food(industrial hemp), biofuel, etc etc. A anti-marijuana propaganda program has been set up like a century ago for babylonian purposes.

Where my home is it's legal both medical and recreational. The economy is thriving and the majority of people that were so against it aren't anymore.

It's so funny how the law determines the perception of people's morals on somethings. So many people converted over, it was funny at first. But it's cool that the majority of people smoke whenever I'm back home.

I think people also feel safer not dealing with drug dealers also, which helped convert people. That was always a pain, it's a lot easier to just go into a store and buy it. Also it's tested for lethal contamination, which drug dealers don't do.
