@Bold It was a firmament splinter. If it had hit naruto, it would have spiked outwards and plugging all the wounds that it created making it impossible to heal without taking it out. And the way it sprouts outwards...it's impossible to take it out. Naruto wouldn't have been able to take that.

Despite him having shown best "yang" power so far (non-juubi influenced), i don't think that'd help with him having a disease or maybe something like regenerating too much and dieing, like how Tsunade's regeneration shorten's her life. Considering he had been warring pretty much most of his life as a kid/teen/and adult.. i wouldn't look past that.

Or since Hashirama is pretty much the mirror image of Goku, it could just be a disease that they didn't have any cure for.. hence giving Tsunade the "will" to become a medical ninja, so she won't let anyone die (since her and Hashirama were shown to have a strong bond).

Well the bad guy was only living cause of Hashirama's dna and the Gedo statue.
