" A threat... That which is greater than Kaguya. "

Ever since the reveal of Kaguya as the final villain of the series, we've wondered why and we have also wondered what her end goal was and why she was aiming to make a Zetsu Army of the people in the world of Shinobi. We got an answer in the form of Momoshiki and Kinshiki, the villains of the Boruto: Naruto The Movie. However this answer was underwhelming to say the least and didn't really make much sense, or did it?

Its become standard on this base (for some unexplained reason) that the sheer amount of jutsu and chakra means everything. No the way it is used or anything else, in a battle all that matters is chakra and jutsu. This is what a majority of the fan base seems to think, but I find this wrong and it also seems that this is the reason why Kaguya feared Momoshiki so greatly. Allow me to explain, would you?

Kaguya: Fighting Abilities
When we saw Kaguya fight, a few things became apparent, for starters she isn't a fighter. Kaguya has little to no battle experience and no tactical mind. Her power comes only from the fact that she possessed a great deal of chakra and several Dōjutsu. From her fighting we also know that she only possesses three attacks which aren't just chakra. The first being her Rabbit Hair Needle Taijutsu, her All-Killing Ash Bones jutsu and finally her ability to change and manipulate dimensions, also known as Amenominaka.

Aside from these her only real strengths lies in throwing large amount of chakra at her opponents in the form of jutsu like Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack and Yomotsu Hirasaka to create portals to close in or hide.

Momoshiki & Kinshiki: Fighting Abilities
These two, either merged or separated seems to have a fair amount of combat experience and jutsu to use, they are also more than capable in Taijutsu and Kenjutsu. They also seem to possess a decent tactical mind and are capable enough to form a combat strategy in the heat of battle. Aside from this, Momoshiki's main form of combat is Absorbing Chakra. Momoshiki has also shown to be capable of creating titanic beasts that can stand its own against a Senjutsu-enhanced, Susano'o-clad Kurama avatar using the surrounding elements and environment.

Alongside this, Momoshiki also possesses the Byakugan and three Rinnegans, which greatly increases his abilities in Taijutsu and grants him almost completely immunity against all forms of Genjutsu.

Kaguya vs Momoshiki
This is where what I said earlier about chakra and amount jutsu comes in. In a fight between these two it really doesn't matter. Kaguya's main form of combat is pure chakra and Momoshiki's main form of combat is absorbing pure chakra. This means that if they where to fight using only their main form of combat, then Momoshiki would win regardless of the chakra level difference. Now in a real fight this means that Kaguya would have to resort to her physical abilities and considering that they both have Byakugan then I'd say that they are evenly matched in pure Taijutsu.

This leaves Rabbit Hair Needle and All-Killing Ash Bone as well as Amenominaka jutsu for Kaguya to use against Momoshiki. Rabbit Hair Needle was a jutsu which Kaguya only resorted to use against a summon and not against her main targets. Probably because this attack isn't a strong one and isn't made for killing, but disabling her targets. In a fight against Momoshiki this would be severely useless. That leaves the two others. I stated earlier in the thread that Kaguya could manipulate the terrain in her dimensions, and this gives her a huge leverage against most enemies.

However I also stated that Momoshiki possessed the ability to create titanic creatures of great strength using the terrain around him. This means that if Kaguya were to use Amenominaka to try to deal with Momoshiki then she would have placed herself at a great disadvantage as this jutsu costs a great deal of chakra and on top of that it even helps Momoshiki out. This jutsu would only serve to counter Momoshiki's titanic beasts at best and if her manipulation of the terrain isn't enough for that then she would need to resort to other attacks such as Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack which is pure chakra punches.

Had she done that, then Momoshiki would have absorbed her chakra and gained a power-up from it, further leaving her at a disadvantage. This means that against Momoshiki, Kaguya would have had to resort to All-Killing Ash Bones and nothing else as everything else would prove futile against him. With only this jutsu it is unlikely that Kaguya would have won, and the result would must likely be that Momoshiki would have absorbed her chakra completely. This is why Kaguya formed a plan to even out the battle.

Army of Zetsu
Kaguya planned to prepare an army of Zetsu in order to battle Momoshiki on even ground. The main ability of a Zetsu is to absorb and copy the chakra of their victim. It is highly likely that Kaguya was planning on using this trait and their loyalty towards her as a tool in the fight against Momoshiki to counter his own chakra absorbing abilities as well as other jutsu.

Summary
All in all, Kaguya has more chakra and greater overall power than Momoshiki, but Momoshik is the perfect counter towards Kaguya and because of it, she feared to fight him. It was from this fear that Sasuke's guess that someone stronger than Kaguya existed. I don't think that Momoshiki has anywhere near the same amount of chakra compared to Kaguya, but he has the ability and means to defeat her. Because of this, she tried to make an army in order to beat him at his own game, using Zetsu's chakra absorbing ability.

Wasn't it revealed that Momoshiki was her lackey?
I heard both comments saying that and saying against it. Regardless if he did work under her, then he may have planned on overthrowing her and she was aware of it. Aside from that, Momoshiki and Kaguya's goal were the same, to absorb all chakra into one. Thus making them natural rivals, as they both wanted all chakra for themself.

This is what I heard too.
Well, his goal was to absorb all chakra. He attacked Konoha in hopes of stealing Kurama from Naruto. Kurama being a part of Kaguya's chakra, it is more than likely that he wanted it for himself. Making him a natural enemy to Kaguya even without the need of confirming it with the movie. (Then again, the movie does confirm it.)

It was released in american theaters in october but they only added subtitles and from what I could read from the cam rips when Momo attacks the chunin exams sasuke explains momo is the reason she needed the army
For reasons that wasn't specified, hence why I made this thread about that subject.

Very good and logical thread and while i agree with premise of thread I disagree about Momoshi being whole reason for Kaguya to act like that.

1. According to boruto novel of which translation you can find on the internet Kaguya was afraid of chakra thieves this is how was she calling it and momo was just one prime example of them

2. Boruto novel or was it interview of Kishi says that some of otsutsuki were supposed to live scattered among each kaguya dimenssion however due to being rushed Kishi changed his mind and took easy route to make no interuption of battle against Kaguya

3. Both novel and movie suggest that sone more ootsutsuki are lurking around kaguya's dimenssion.

4. According to databook 4 Kaguya was ootsutsuki clan leader once so knowing tradition and habits about power trade and being power hungry of her clan Kaguya call chakea thieves reffer to all remaining ootsutsuki. Here goes also fact that Kaguya go paranoid and was afraid of anyone taking her precious chakra.

I think Kishi is willingly continue the series at some point and we might see other Ootsutsuki lurking in Kaguya's dimensions

Isn't Momoshiki the "Threat" she feared because he wanted to steal chakra from her? Not because he could beat her in a fight.
Had Momoshiki and Kaguya fought in a one on one, then Momoshiki would have drained all of her chakra, in such she would have lost. Losing all chakra equal death, at the very least for someone like Kaguya.

I honestly don't think Kaguya saw him as a rival but more so of an annoyance & potential threat.

Absorbing chakra is a bit pesky.
Momoshiki was by all means her rival. A rival is someone who was/is competing for the same objective or for superiority in the same field. They were both after all chakra in the world. Because of that fact they were natural rivals.

If it was as simple as draining her charka, Sasuke could have done it alone. If anything, Sasuke would be better than Momoshiki at doing that, since Momoshiki has no feats of directly absorbing a persons chakra. He could turn her attacks on her (Yes, even Ash Bones) but not drain her empty.

First Momo Lava Golem was destroyed with Susanoo sword RSM Kurama tanked that shit easily.

Eighty gods vacuum attack destroyed Sasuke PS with low diff so it can do the same with Lava golem or phoenix .

Eighty gods vacuum attack is taijutsu move and it can´t be absorbed so this alone negs Momoshiki.

Momoshiki died from giant Rasengan while JJ MAdara who is weaker than Kaguya tanked Lava RS which is way stronger that attack used to kill MOmoshiki.

Momoshiki wanted to eat shinju fruit to gain power that only Kaguya have,so this alone tells as he is weaker.
