While I think he ended with the most beautiful death in Naruto, I do believe him seeing Naruto in full mastery of Kurama would have been earned enough at this point to make it not feel forced,

If the writing was on par with the Pain Arc then I'd agree with you 100% but I don't trust Kishi's writing from the war arc on. It sadly would have been rushed.

Jiraya would have done some damage, it is unlikely maa and paa(and likely the other toads wouldn't either) would help him though so no senjutsu. He won't be that much of a threat really.

Although it would have been cool to see Naruto fight his master in an emotional battle. I couldn't agree more. It was the best decision Kishi could have made not to bring him back. He should have done the same with Itachi.

call me lame, but early on in part II when Sakura actually showed some rather good development I always expected her to face Kabuto in a battle like Tsunade did back in Part I. Had she got some actual development and been placed at his level during Sage Mode would have done wonders for character instead of all the crying...and the forgetting to breathe, and the getting KO'd by rocks....and the constant saves by teammates......Yeah I'm still bitter by how Kishi portrayed her character XD

Good point. Especially with all the god tier opponents that started popping up in the war. I mean he can't go into Sage Mode without Ma and Pa. and unless it was Orochimaru that brought him back and let him have his personality and free will, Ma and Pa would not fuse with him to go into Sage Mode provided they can do so with an edo.
