German, French, Russian, Italian, Greek, Spanish, Portugal, Hebrew, Japanese, Latin, Arab, or Chinese?

The classes would be about their culture and language. So which one should I choose. I am leaning towards Greek and Latin.

I'm surprised there's Portuguese in the choices.

Choose Spanish if you want one of the most spoken languages aside from English; Latin and/or Greek if you want to have a wider knowledge on many European languages, Chinese is very useful especially in the business sector or choose one you know you'll love to learn.

I'd choose Arabic since I'm a Muslim and Arabic is important to me.

How are you going to learn latin when it is a dead language? It would take less than a week to learn everything the world knows of the language.

No. You could potentially study Latin for years, its not spoken anymore. Doesn't make it useless z.zz
People still speak Latin. The thing is, no set culture speaks the language anymore hence it's considered a 'dead' language.

OP - I'd say learn about the language/culture which interests you most. Personally, I too would attempt to learn Latin/Greek culture and language. Sadly it wasn't offered at my school :>

I would only learn about a language that I would frequently use or some connection to. Music and hobbies are big motivators to learn languages. Latin would be pretty useless for me.

I spent my early childhood learning Arabic. It was one of the most difficult experiences of my life.
Spanish would be practical but if you learn any of those European languages, you'll learn the others relatively easily.
Same applies for the other regional languages. Do Greek or Latin if you want to be cool.
Do Spanish/French if you want to actually use it later in life.

It's up to you, but fair warning: Arabic, Japanese, and Chinese are widely regarded as the hardest languages to learn for an English speaker.
