I'll make it super short.

Uchiha gain abilities after experiencing sadness, loss, traumas, etc.

We can all agree that the Uchiha clan had a terrible background history. By reading or learning about their horrible past and loss of dear members or of their brethren clan member, Madara. Shouldn't those who lived in Itachi's timeline be affected by their history ?

All the Uchiha clan members should have awakened real sharingan powers because if they really cared they would have felt terrible pain since, in ancient times belonging to a clan meant that you are family or blood related.

No Uchiha ever obtained any powers through their background history despite their terrible mourning throughout the series.

Also, I believe Sasuke should have awakened some terrible feats when he saw his family slaughtered by his own brother.

The mentality during Madara's time was different because of war.
I don't believe most Uchihas were sad about their loss.

When the sharingan was introduced in the series, it said that it was rare and only a select few awakened it. So it seems only the elites among the Uchiha awakened it and their chakra was probably strong enough to awaken it when they experienced loss.

I totally understand your point of view but, I'm talking about the post war characters. The riot within the Uchiha clans and Itachi's timeline

@Bold: that was proven wrong on Gaiden, when Sarada awakened her Sharingan after experiencing good things (the thought of meeting her dad)

You think that reading history books and learning about their ancient family's dark past would have the same impact as witnessing legitimate emotional experiences with someone precious to them?

It is personal trauma rather than historical that should activate sharingan, also we were only to a handful of uchiha characters, who knows whether others in the clan may or may not have activated sharingan

Is that not where Obito got his lab full of sharingan from? from all the Uchiha that were massacred? same for Danzo and his mokuton arm,

Have you ever read a book ? If you would have read one that you liked you would have had some pain, anger, happiness, joy, etc feelings that could jump from your skin and punch you in the face. (Figuratively speaking ofc).

The Uchiha Clan and Senju Clan formed a pact. There was no conflict between the Clans thereafter. However, only Madara had problems which later he had left the Clan and battle Hashirama, ultimately being killed by Hashirama at the Valley of the End.

So how is this a "massive plot-hole"?

No the Current Uchiha in Itachi's generation wouldn't be affected by the ancient Uchiha past. Even the Uchihas themselves were glad that they lost to the Senju which is why they were all slowly leaving Madara's side. They also realized that Madara is one of those crazy dudes who would do anything to accomplish his goal so they practically didn't care about the past.

Remember when the Uchiha and Senju made a pact. The Uchiha were basically tricked into signing the pact because they would get the short end of the stick. They would only feel opressed when the clan was discriminated as a whole not when a crazy war figure does it for the sake of pleasure so he can keep his clan on top.

On Sasuke's case he was initially a late bloomer. He awakened the Sharingan at age 7-8 but only actually began using it's true power when he was 10. Sasuke would have awoke something big but he lacked the hatred at the time. He was engulfed with depression.
