I actually think Deidara wins this.

Not only is fighting to capture even more difficult than going to for the kill (by Jiraiya's own admission), but Deidara himself admitted that it was more difficult not killing him as shown here:

Additionally, Gaara's loss of the Shukaku diminished his firepower considering the large Shukaku Arm Constructs and his Shukaku Shell is lost which means his attack power and defense is reduced which makes it much easier for Deidara to penetrate his defense.

My bad even so the suicide shouldn't be as strong as the metors thrown down by madara which gaara was able to protect himself from .... He only has to protect himself so his defense can b more compact instead of being spreader thin protecting others
