One of gai hobbies are side stepping, of course he can while in the gates!!

Gai wins his activation with his power hits are much faster then kabuto

If they both start at max gai wins

He kept a jubbii mode madara at bay for a few blows to land a full combo (though unsuccessful)

Indeed but gai hasn't shown us he needs to charge any gates as they open upon call
