Could go either way. Gai could crush them with nunchuks but if Sakura smashed the earth and Kabuto came out of the smashed ground and took gai by surprise, chakra scalpel could end it.

Sakura also isn't necessary for that. He could come out from underneath Gai and use scalpel to take out his leg muscles or just go straight for the heart.
