He doesn't have to attract Bunta nor will Bunta reach them in time to stop Susanoo. Besides, Nagato would just take him out with Asura Path or block him with the Panda or let the dogs hold him off since the only thing he has to do is use BT. Itachi handles the follow up.

I didn't think this match up out as well as I should have.

However for the sake of rebuttal.

500 yards apart. With Gambunta summoned to help stave off Nagato's summonings for a short duration couldn't guys Hirudora reach that distance and devastate team 2? I don't think Nagato can absorb like how Kisame tried because it is a physical attack and not chakra based. Seeing as how it dwarfed turtle island I don't see him escaping the blast radius. Also I doubt it would destroy itachi's susanoo since he has his shield, I do however think it would blow it away due to impact like it did with madaras. Moving him across the battlefield

So no, this doesn't come down to Gai and Jiraiya vs. Itachi. It remains Nagato and Itachi vs. Gai and Jiraiya, and Bansho Tennin+Susanoo's attack=their death in this scenario.
