Pretty much the title.

Let's say some guy u have never met before out of nowhere says he is your cousin. You are not familiar with him, his parents, or siblings yet he truly is your relative. Do you care? :| and y do u care?

Don't really care for them. Except parents.

And if he claims anything regarding being my cousin, thats fine. I'd consider a random dude my brother, so no issue there.

I wouldn't care much, if I get to know him better and we get close then I will value that person.

Blood ties aren't as important as close relationships. I have loads of relatives I don't even talk to.

It could be one of the factors that contributes in becoming a friend to care.
I had 3 of my cousins as class mates but I have been friends and in contact with only one.
Blood ties don't mean unless you are parent or young person who dependent on parents or siblings.

So basically what I am getting is that rather than the blood tie itself being what is of importance, the tie can act as a precursor for a relationship which will cause that person to be someone of value

You sound like Hokage Naruto.

Yeah, I do care because he is my blood relative.

I'm very close to my extended family, and it's great. We're all close to each other and have a lot of fun. It's not like friends, where if they take a different path then you, you lose touch. Because of that blood you share, you're always connected in a way.

It also seems like some people innately value people because they are of their blood. Like above post.
That could also be extended for religion or region etc.

Yeah, seems like it, but I have never been close to my extended family so that kind of logic is lost on me

I would want to find out more about that person because we are connected.

However, I feel the same way about anyone that shares an interest with me, or if someone is just interesting.

No special points for being a relative - any future relationship would be based on how we get along.

I'll definitely try to establish a friendship, but if he/she is not connecting or he/she is too incompatible with me for a variety of reasons (*******, etc.) then we'll rarely talk ever again. I have several cousins who I'm close with since I've known them birth and I hang out with them several times a year for family gatherings as well as activities outside of that. Being close in age helps too. On the other hand, I have cousins who are not close in age with me that I almost never talk to and a language barrier also contributes to that.
