The Sage, and Sasuke both said Naruto had their chakra, and the mode Naruto was in is partially made from their chakra. To enter that mode their chakra is required.
Naruto got a mere fraction of each of the Bijuu chakra. He got Yin Kurama and got RSM and half of Hagos chakra

I agree. Naruto was nerfed hard or else he would be able to use the Bijuu RS on him. Naruto has a hell of a stamina to pull out a win against Sasuke with 8.5 Bijuu. Nobody cares if Naruto had been fighting for a million years after they both received the Six Paths power up and COMPLETELY replenished their chakra. Not only was Naruto's chakra replaced and augmented, but Yang Kurama who spent most of its chakra was replaced by fresh Yin Kurama. So both Naruto and Sasuke were full on chakra. No excuses!
You can NEVER call that "chakra taxing" as the chakra always returns to the original after the clone disappears. So it doesn't consume even the slightest amount of chakra, since all chakra is effectively returned to the user after the clone is dispersed.
