yeah, but now with a central light source both of their shadows are behind them so there's almost no way for shikamaru's shadow to make contact with darui's. The beams intercept shikamaru's shadow by illuminating the ground.

He controls it though, he doesn't just extend shadows in the direction they're originall pointing? If there are shadows he can send them anywhere he pleases.

so can darui's beams, right? though I'm not sure if they're as agile.

Even if it isn't the case, shikamaru won't have much time to control his shadows while being chased by the beams and he will eventually get hit
